My car has roller rockers
Would love to quiet it down.
Not sure how to correctlly adjust them.
Do you think i can just buy a stock rocker setup and just change them out?
Noty sure if i need the adjustable rollers the cam is a 508 lift i dont know the duration.
It's hydralic also.

Yeah, you need adjustable rockers.

Better off with them. Just get someone to help you adjust them correctly. Once done they will give you miles of trouble free service.

Yeah, you need adjustable rockers.

Why? I ran same cam with reg stamped steel OEM style rockers. Rollers ideal? Sure....but it ran great without them.

Agree however....just get them adjusted right, make sure your lifters are pumping up etc etc and you should be good to go.

Proper adjustment will help, but if you have a bleed down lifter in there they will click at idle.

Has been covered many times here.

Yes, will work just fine will not make as much power as properly adjusted rollers do to rocker arm ratio.

Adjustables are recommended by the cam manufacturers but you can run the stock stamped one and it will run just fine. If its just a street cruiser you probably wont even notice the performance difference. if you have a bleed down type lifter in there (rodedes) it will click at idle even wih the stock type rockers.

You could just remove the rocker covers and give all the adjusters a 1/4 turn in and see if that helps.

Because at that lift, it is imperative to get lifter preload correct.

What cam is in it exactly? The MP ".508" cam is not a big deal and does not require adjustable rockers. the Comp ".508" may or may not, depending on the lifters that were ordered with the camshaft.
That being the case tho - I'd say adjusting them might have a better affect than replacing them. I find it best on a "mystery engine" (one I didn't build and don't have specs from) to pull th eintake off before I adjust them. Then I can see what they have for preload now, and can set them the way I want it. Sounds like you have them set with not enough preload.

Or the push rods are to long and they are hitting the covers. The should be set a zero and a 1/4 turn down for the street. Did you get hydraulic adjustable length push rods. If they are for solid lift cam they are wrong and usually that is what they come with.

I am running a 509 purple cam with OEM stamped rockers and Flat tappet hyd's in my 340 and my car runs just fine, actually it runs very strong. Some people say that with Hyd's you are limited in RPM's. I have been up to 7000 and had no problems....ran very strong. I have a 3500 stall to go along with the purple cam

One of the problems with the factory stamped rockers. Suppose to be 1.5 but test have shown they can be anywhere between 1.38-1.5.

that and their kinda soft so they wear pretty quick if you run very much spring pressure. Seen a few with the pushrod poked through them.

there are heavy duty non adjustable rockers available......

Yeah I had one go thru too on #7 so to make sure that it would not happen again I replaced the hole shabang, Rockers, push rods and springs....
