Headlight Question

-
It would be a really nice headlight set for four times the money, to be honest. Of the $27.44 I spent, $10.95 was shipping. The kit itself was only $16.49. One of my good friends just swung by to check out the kit; he had serious doubts when I told him about it. He asked me for the info on where I got 'em. He wants a set for his old-school '31 Ford hot rod and another for his '76 F150.
Im pretty sure my brother in law will order a set for his 67 Cuda also.

Just remember to do everyone else on the road a favor and aim them well.
You're doing yourself a favor as well. Bambi is out there. Odocoileus virginianus is the main reason I got these. Up here, whitetail deer outnumber humans by a factor of about ten. Deer-car accidents are so common I can't name anyone I know that hasn't hit at least one. Most people I know have hit multiple. I literally have spare grilles and front-end sheetmetal for all of my cars because of those delicious bastards.

If you've got multiple A-bodies or other vehicles with 7" round headlights, order kits for all of 'em from toyotapartsdeal at once. The shipping barely rises on multiple kits. A couple of friends have already asked me to get these for them, so I ordered four more. The total shipping for all four kits was only $11.46--remember, it was $10.95 for one--for a total of $77.60. That brought the "to my door" cost of a kit down to only $19.40. This deal is like a sore dick: You just can't beat it.

From what I found online, this same kit was around $80 three years ago. The rumor is that Toyota is probably doing a closeout sale and discontinuing the part number. If you're considering this setup, you'd better get it now.

Nothing wrong with upgrading to some good halogen H4 conversions. The problem is all the idiots that don't know how to aim them correctly.

I went with something similar to this kit in both my Valiant, Vixen and my truck, Gladys, EXCEPT, I pieced together the kit using NOS Cibie E code headlamps and good quality Osram bulbs. I also upgraded each one with the headlight relay harness. I used a Summit harness on the truck, but that was before @crackedback was offering his headlight relay harness. I got one of his for the Valiant and I recommend it. It's very high quality. Between the relay harness and the good quality E code headlamps, it's literally a night and day difference, pun intended.

I'm sorry. I forgot the link. Before you pull the trigger, let @slantsixdan tell you if those are any good or not. There are some Hellas he likes and some he doesn't.

Are those the 7" head lights you are posting in your photo? If so, I'll like a pair.

Here's the email
"8111060P70 is currently on backorder with no ETA. Once processed it cannot be cancelled.
Would you like to proceed or cancel your order now?"

So what does it mean it can't be cancelled?
No refund?
Im gonna wait it out, shes parked now for awhile anyways, not like Im gonna be driving her any time soon, and thats a smoking hot deal.

I think it means that Im screwed now that I told them that I would wait...haha I never thought about going to a local Toyota dealer, damn, thats a good idea.

Damn, that sucks guys. I think that choosing to "proceed" will probably invoke some kind of waiting period, say 30 or 60 days, after which if they can't fill the backorder you'll be asked again. You would likely have the option to check your order status and choose to cancel it as well. I would almost bet your card(s) won't be charged until the item ships. All those statements are EWAGs, not anything I for which I can show evidence, but Toyota seems fairly customer-oriented (other than our local dealer, whom I would never call).

I have not received any notice about my second order, be it regarding backorder or that they've shipped. Right now I'm going to stick with "no news is good news" for the moment. I'll post back when I get some kind of notification.

@NoCar340 I would think that you are right, they cant just keep a persons money indefinitely. And it might just be an issue with the Canadian supplier if all is good with US customers. Hopefully they show up soon, and Ill post when I receive more news as well

It's entirely possible US warehouses have them while Canadian ones don't.

My card showed the charge as "Pending" up until about an hour ago. Now it's gone through as a purchase, so I expect I'll get some kind of notification tomorrow.

I actually received an e-mail from toyotapartsdeal yesterday (it was on my work e-mail & I missed it) saying they'd ordered the parts from the Toyota parts depot. They gave me an ETA--to their warehouse--of Monday, 11/04. That e-mail arrived more than 12 hours before the card charge cleared, so it would appear they're confident I'll get them. We shall see.

I emailed looking for clarification on the "refund". Here's the email, I'm going to cancel for now.

"Once the order is processed, cancellation with our supplier is not possible. Unfortunately, backorders do not have a defined arrival time, which can vary from one week to over six months. You may choose to cancel your order now and reach out to us in a couple of weeks for an update on availability."

IIRC, in the US they shouldn't charge your card until the item ships to you. We all know how that works in the real world. LOL

No idea on the rules for Canadian folks. Charge you, then it takes 5 years to show up, No refunds. Levels of reasonableness need apply.

Since it is produced overseas, they don't want dead inventory sitting around from cancellations.

Just for grins, I looked back at where I ordered the kits, and the price has now more than doubled: $33.46, which is still one hell of a deal, just not as great as it was.
