Help me sort out a 10 second build

-
Did I recommend any parts I left that in the people in the know

I seen something from a different angle he may not thought of, it's fine if it's something he's not interested in, I don't care, no need to be a dick.

I f$#king post what when I want and I'll keep responding if feel like doing so.
You guys' are ridiculous this really didn't need to be an argument.

273 I really don’t see his dissing what you are saying and you and others have some great ideas. Some of us are time limited, or old, or have the money to spend for needed upgrades. Most of us just want to get it done right the first time and go out and beat on it. Please don’t be upset as he kindly said he doesn’t want the added work of doing things twice.

And like I said I'm not trying to convince anyone to do it any other way, was just a suggestion, I see nothing wrong with the way he wants to do it, it's all good, if I misread the sarcasm in his last statement my bad, if you guys are all done calling me out we can go on with our day.

P.S. Looking forward to seeing Mean16 hitting his goals.

@273 thanks. Let's hope I can do it. The last year has been very challenging, financially but it's finally improving so I'm thinking about moving ahead with this.

Still not 100% certain on some aspects of the build. For instance I'm considering selling the current car and trying to find something that already has a good foundation, i.e. mini tubbed, with a cage etc. I have built a stock 360 in another thread that was intended to help sell that car. Just have to think about what's the easiest and most economical path.

Any suggestions on who I can talk to help sort out the valve train package?

If it were me I'd port the heads and manifold. I'd build the short block with the parts and cam he has.
I'd upgrade the convertor to 4800-5200. convertor company could get you very close using your existing cam.
Chassis upgrades would be required at that point after installing motor and trans.
Just about everything has been covered for the chassis upgrades by Justin and John. listen to them.
The difference between and 10 sec blast and 12 is in the chassis.
The reason I say use the cam is you have it. you won't know what the car will do until you sort the chassis.
Cams are very easy to change.

Even going from flat tappet to solid roller? Doesn't that usually require machine work?

Good to hear things are picking up for you, times aren't the best right now for a lot of us, I lost my job over the covid lock down.

If you find a good deal out there probably the way to go.

Not going to try to sway you towards a certain body style but I’m almost positive the wheel wells are bigger on the 1970-1972 dusters. Not positive after that. On my sons 1970 duster we rolled the lip gently with a baseball bat on the rear and he ran a 10 inch slick with stock wheel tubs. Wheel offset of coarse comes into play. Now he runs a 20 inch street radial and I don’t even think we would have had to roll the lip. Not sure you can do that with a Dart.

Duster has the most room for rear tires then 67-69 cuda then everything else

yes, but you don't need a roller. You call though. street/ strip right?
Agreed there. A solid cam do the trick no problem.
I’d talk to member B3 about valve train worries. He is an excellent fella, totally top notch.

(an accolade I do not readily give out.)

You don’t need a roller, a flat solid will work just fine and save several dollars. BTW, if you sell the car keep the Hedman Huslers, they are a very good header.
