The dipstick tube got damaged and broke off flush inside the block.
Any remedies for removing the portion of the tube stuck in the block?
Is the dipstick tube specific to the 273 or will a 318 fit?
Best source or way to find a replacement tube?
Thanks for the help

You could try an easy out.

Or a proper sized tap.

A pointy awl could bend the tueb in and then with needle nose twist the bent in part like a spam can opener.

Do your best to not let it drop into the oil pan

if you have the motor open, say to swap or reseal the oil pan... i'd just flip that bish over and knock the mother out from the inside with a push rod.

Oops, meant to re-post this

Use a slightly larger screw or "lag" bolt to screw into the broken tube.
Tighten until the broken tube turns, then twist and turn and pull with vice-grips.
I actually have a slide hammer and lag bolt specifically for that purpose, so I can leave the alternator in place.
Tap new one in using a 7/16 open/close wrench against the"flare".

Good luck

P.S. some use a 3/8? tap to try and thread the tube, but the tube usually turns before any significant thread is made .
Cheers
