Hi! New here and have a question…

What’s the best thing to do if you have an awareness that a build sheet for a very valuable car had been altered?
Yep, been quiet for thirty years. Now it's a multi-million dollar car, I don’t suppose the owner might be happy to know there were computers and a mill involved in it’s early recovery.

A LOT more details needed here. Welcome aboard.
I’m nervous about what to say.
I guess it will say a lot to say that I lived with two cars that were retrieved from France. I was present for the discovery and joined the trip for recovery of the second. I think it’s safe to say that they are among the most valuable muscle cars there are. I do have pictures.

…and pardon me, thank you very much for the kind welcome
I’m here and hoping to be careful because I do love Mopars and just feel this isn’t right.

I am open to sharing more, I’m just unfamiliar and want to make sure I am doing it right, if I do or say anything. If you want more from me, let me know.

Welcome from Alaska. As far as your dilemma goes, more of the backstory is probably needed. IF someone is knowingly misrepresenting the credentials of a high dollar collectable Mopar, especially when it's changing hands, that is wrong and unethical. Do YOU have the responsibility to bring the misrepresentation to light? That is a slippery slope. Good luck.
And YES pictures would be helpful to the claim/story.

Welcome. It sounds like a partner ship that has dissolved. This could need legal advise. But sure, we’d like more info

go to: Moparts Forums - Forums powered by UBB.threads and blow the whistle. they care about that garbage more then we do. i'm sure quite a few "high dollar" cars have been tampared with over the years and aren't what they appear.

I'm getting the sense that this could be about a HemiCuda convertible that was an overseas export car, suddenly 'reappearing' a number of years ago, just about the same time as the market went absolutely insane. Sound about right?

Welcome aboard. My curiosity is peaked. What exactly was altered. Vin/ options? And are we talking fender tag or actual original build sheet

The car did not come with a billboard. The French citizen who ordered it preferred the simple and sleek look of the car without it. It was the American man who found it who thought it would look much more eye-catching with the billboard. He was a computer expert and had a mill. I believe the build sheet and the fender tags were both altered. I didn’t think much of it at the time. But, that dusty six figure pile of old car and dust has become quite important to someone who believes what has been said about it. After listening to many conversations with Galen Govier, I realize how important “numbers matching” can be.

Well, it is fraud, certainly not a $andbox that I will ever likely be able to play in, how much does it differ from those who have 'rebodied' a rusted out hulk because it was a six barrel, or a hemi car using a body that was a 6 cylinder or 318 base model? We know that it has happened, probably still does today, everything seems to be driven by greed. I don't know the answer.
