Glad to see it tested good. Bought one after Christmas for my Dart and hope to have it installed soon.

Awesome. I have read alot about it and the Fitech. Both seem to be great systems. I did come across a few threads on other forums where people switched from the Fitech to the Holley. I think I am leaning towards the Holley, there hasn't been much if any "problems" like the Fitech has experienced.

I should say that most problems found with the Fitech were probably user error, with the exception of the few that had to send their units back for repair and the Fuel command center being a flop.

HOLLEY SNIPER INSTALL & REVIEW (Replaced Fitech) - Chevelle Tech

I haven't seen any convincing evidence yet. Some love it and others have continuous problems since they installed it. Others went back to their carb.
According to my local speed shop guy, he has been installing only the FAST systems for customers with no issues

Are you specifically talking about the Fitech or the Sniper or both? I have heard tons of success stories on the Fitech as well as problems that needed worked out. There is a few long threads here on the Fitech, and Facebook has a group dedicated to Fitech support.

I think like most new things, bugs just need worked out.

Yeah, I saw the same info. Seems like Fi Tech support can't keep up with the growth that they have had and figured Holley has been in the efi business longer. Sniper had good discounts for year end and the base price includes features that are an upgrade with Fi Tech. I hope is really is a plug and play product. Seems like a lot of issues are from guys tinkiering with it. I understand there might be some adjustments and maybe a few hiccups but hope its not a full time job trying to get it to work.

I am currently regretting choosing Fitech over the Holley. I installed at the car ran for 8 mins then died. Had to send back to Fitech. They replaced the ECU and sent it back. Was damaged during shipping...called them monday and nothing yet.

Bummer deal. Hate to hear about this. Who did you buy it from?

I agree. I think Holley has more capital to keep up with it. Let us know how it goes! How cheap did you get it?

I bought it through Pace and the Holley was 10% off and everything else gets 5% off for being a forum member.

I am sure @Johnny Pace has a contact at Fitech as he has been very helpful on this subject, especially to those who have purchased from him.
Yes for sure.... They probably call me "The cage rattler" when my name pops up... if you need ANYTHING let me know.

I've always been leary of Holley throttle linkage geometry problems. Unless the Holley is made SPECIFICALLY for Mopar, it is tough to get the WOT, and the throttle pressure linkage for TF to work correctly. I've used their Mopar linkage "adapter" on their universal aftermarket carbs, and they do not work worth a crap, it's always been a hassle. Unless things have changed drastically, in the past few years, it's always been a case of fits Chev, Ford. If it fits Mopar it's just an accident.

Not that you want to hear a $70 cable is the solution to the problem....But It's the solution to the problem.

I know johnny would take care of me. I just haven't seen any reason to involve him to this point.

I heard back from Bryce right after I posted. They haven't gotten anywhere with Fedex yet. I dont want to hijack any futher. This thread is about the Holley Sniper.

They said you need a crank signal but didn't mention what they did to use one. I run an LA motor with a std 904 so no provisions for sensors on my combo.

They need a TACH signal....not a crank trigger.... You just need a MSD or MSD type distributor with a phasable rotor in it VS stock. There are very few of these on vehicles with crank triggers. Again you just need the proper distributor.

I recently purchased one of these units for my 454 chevy, running it with a robbmc powersurge. Im having some issues with it at idle (thing stalls and dies within 5-10 secs) still diagnosing if i have a fuel problem or if something is up somewhere else. Will post more info when I get some things figured out. Bought from Johnny at pace, great guy to deal with.

Thanks for the shout out. Whats a robmc power surge? Sounds like its running on the prime shot and pump is never kicking on. Or its losing the tach signal.

here's the link to the powersurge, pretty cool unit it has a walbro pump inside RobbMc Performance Products - PowerSurge

I kept thinking my pump is not sending fuel but I checked the canister and it's full of fuel so I'll wait til I get some inline fuel pressure gauges on the send and return lines to find out exactly what's going on. I'll check the tach signal line for continuity back to the harness. I did have it running a few times for more than 5-10 secs before I started getting in depth on the troubleshooting, so I'm slowly trying to single out potential problems that I could've caused before I start blaming the unit.

Installed my inline fuel pressure gauge, fired up the pump 62 psi going out to sniper rock solid. Checked my tach wire from neg side of coil to harness, all good. Wired my crank 12v to a relay so i would get a steady 12v. Ended up getting the car started for a little bit. It later stalled out again after 20-30 secs. Threw an analog tach meter on the neg side of coil and the other lead to ground. i then got the car to idle, the unit started learning when warmed up and i adjusted the iac to 2-5%. When I removed the analog gauge while it was running the car suddenly died and when cranked wont idle for very long rpm gets up to around 550 then it dies and says stall. I hook the analog tach back up to the car and it idles and starts fine, wth?? I'm kind of perplexed here anyone have any ideas. Im running a pac distributor and coil from pace performance, basically an msd ready to run clone.

So I noticed this distributor PAC-9360-2 Pace Pac Chevy V8 Performance Red Cap Distributor has a built in cd module, could that be interferring with the holley sniper ignition setting? I have it set for neg coil ifnition input but in the holley instructions they say to use the tach out from a cd box, well I dont have a tach out on the distributor. Im beginning to wonder if i have to convert the rpm signal some how.

Morning Tanis,

Sounds to me like you don't have it setup for fuel only mode. You're aware that it won't control timing because it's a ready to run... wiring in that tachometer sounds like its "fooling" the unit. You're not using the distributor wires on the sniper correct? just the tach wire? since it's only controlling fuel?
