I busted a brand new motor mount, so I decided to try and make my own shumacher knock off torque limiting strap.

I used 379 peterbilt stack bushings, (you can get these on Amazon)

A 3/8-24 heim joint off of Amazon

Some water pipe, and 1/4 inch flat steel.

All in, $11

Very nice!
Or you could just use a late '80s truck biscuit with the built-in interlocks.

Under $10 at Rock auto or your local parts store.

^^^ Looks good, should do the job nicely! Lots of ways to get that done.

I use a poly lock on the drivers side of my lil 360LA and pinned the motor mounts on my 390FE for the same effect.... cut off the stud and grade 8 bolt all the way through with a nylocking nut.

Truck mounts are thicker, are they not ?

I use truck mounts when I need to raise the engine for clearance with some headers .
The truck V8 biscuits are only marginally thicker than stockers, depending on brand I have seen some almost identical in thickness. The Cummins diesel mounts are the ones that are substantially thicker- but they match up well to the early A mounts ('66 and earlier).

^^^^ A countersunk 3/8" bolt through the biscuit mount does the same thing but without those goofy looking tabs.

I like the homemade strap though. Nothing like making it yourself. Nice work!!
