With that size slick a 15-8 will be good thats the same size slick I'm going to get someday..

Were you feeling rich today lol jk

I seen a set of 30 by 9's on the back of a 68 dart and the ower said he didn't make any changes to the car.

he had to do something cuz a 29 is the biggest that will go in stock...

but thats encouraging...

It would increase the section width, but most classs racers put 9" slicks on 10" rims when possible. It allows more airpressure while still maintaining a good "footprint" and helps the sidewalls live longer due to less wrinkling. Just like any other combo, gotta test to see what pressure works best for you.

I have Hoosier lightweight 9" radial slicks on 10" Holeshot wheels.

im confused... you buy a tires that has a given section width (what rim they use i dont know) and by using the min rim width it will be wider than there section width?

wouldn't a narrower rim suck the sidewalls in?

first set of slicks so this is a new learning curve...

also was planning on screwing the bead in... slants seem to like 10-14psi tire pressure

Next time I see it at the track I'll look it over good. On my 68 I have 255's MT drag radials on 7's with 4.5" backspacing. Wanted 8's but chickened out.

x2,a lot of the stock class racers use 30x9's on a 10 inch rim.

[QUOTE no i felt rich over about 4 months LOL... bought the slicks in i think may and bought the rims yesterday...[/QUOTE]

Lol ya being RICH does that to us and makes us wait

You are correct, but I am refering to the tread width. Section is wider than the tread and would be even more so with 10" rims because they tend to use a rim less than the tread width. I just don't know exactly what width rim is used to establish the section with measurement.

Hoosier's website says the measuring rim for that tire was 8" wide.

Are you looking to put these on a Dart? Let me know how it turns out.

I put a 27*10.5 Quick Time Pro (section width 10.1 as per Hoosier) on my dart with 15*8 wheels with 5.5 backspace, 3/8 spacer, monoleaf springs and rolled fenderlips. I rubbed the letters off of the backside of the tires on the inside, and couldn't get my fingers between the sidewall and rolled lip on the outside. My springs have the car sitting 1.5" higher than stock as per Calvert.

I've got B-Body 10" drums on the back of my car.

I would love to fit that tire on my car, but I don't see where I could get an extra inch without spring relocation.

not to worried about read width... LOL and 8" slick for a 6 should be fine... the 4.88's will test them for sure though!

did you mean 4.5 BS not 5.5?? and worst case scenario i'll just do the SS cutouts...

Pretty sure its 5.5" Backspace (got the Prostars from a Mustang guy and that's what they use), but its been a while. I'll measure again tonight and post up if I'm wrong.

huh... well my dart wants a 4.25BS on an 8" that will give me 1.75" on either side of the rim to leaf and lip, but im going 4.5"BS so i can shim it as close to perfect as i can...

it will be snug for sure!

Mine are 5.5" Backspace, but I do have that 3/8" spacer. I'm sure the B-Body brakes I used when I went to LBP are putting the hub in some non stock position.

are you using a b-body rear? cuz im using an a-body width with LBP conversion/ b body brakes as well lol... but hey! what ever works
