How Rare? Asking for additional information

-
As far as the VS29 cars,there where 15,731 cars made.When you decode the car to the type of tranny,they only made 1,492 3 speed tranny cars.Now depending on the option list of the car the amount goes down from there to determine rarity of the total option package,mrmopartech 450 424 0445

I would 'tend' to go with, on the 3-Speed Manual cars,

That they were not equipped with 'A/C'.

Sounds like it was a 'Dealer Stocking Car' from the Regional Zone Office.

1973 only color
Color Code is JF1
Plymouth called it Mist Green
Dodge called it Pale Green
Was not a very popular color therefore not many cars in each product line came out of the factory wearing it.
There is no way to definitively know how many we're produced as Chrysler wasn't very good at keeping those records
I have put a lot of research into the color since getting my 73 340 Duster and from what I have found around 250-305 73 340 Dusters were made wearing it.
I have started a thread in an attempt to collect pics of 73 Jf1 Dusters and Dart Sports
As well as Valiant and Dart 2 and 4 doors which seem to be the hardest to find
Here is a link to that thread: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=230027

1973 Duster 340,

Standard Equipment........3-Speed Manual {Floor Shifter}
8 1/4" Rear-End..............3.21 Gears {Open Rear}

The 1973 Duster 340, with 'Mist Green' and a 3-Speed Manual, and 3.21 'Open-Rear' is
regarded as a 'Dealer Stocking Car'.

Basically shipped to the Dealer from the Regional Zone Office as a 'typical' 'stocking car
for the 'dealer lot'.

This is Code JF1 'Mist Green', in complete form.

A very rare exterior color, primarily found in the Plymouth 'North-Central' Region Zone.
{Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa}

Why 'primarily' in that Region, I have no idea.
My 73 340 Duster was purchased new in New Port Richey, Florida and have buddy that has a 340 Dart Sport that was purchased new in Alabama.
Most of the Duster 340's in this 'Mist Green' color came thru
with 'Bench Seats'.

It must have been a 'North-Central' thing, for 'cold-winters' and
'summer nights' at the Drive-In.

:cheers:

1973 Duster 340

Production Numbers.......... 15,761

Color JF1 'Mist Green'.............337 {2.1%}

Most in the 'Mist Green' Color came thru with the A-727, and column shifted
with a Bench Seat, 8.25" Rear with 3.21 Gears, P/S, P/B and A/C.

Included was the 'Longitude Stripe w/340'

* The 'Sure-Grip' was 'optional'
* 3.55 Gears were also 'optional.
My car came with a black and white interior with buckets and a console as well as a fold down backseat. But is not equipped with A/C which I thought was odd for a Florida Car

727 and 8 1/4 were standard with the 340 as well as power steering and front disc brakes

Regional Zone Offices would 'swap' 1973 Duster 340's with other Zones, to
fill a need.

As well as Dealer's who {swapped} needed a 'particular color' or desired option on a
Dealer Stocking Lot car.

This is not to say, that several 'Mist Green' Duster 340's didn't end up all
over the country, as there was about 3000 Plymouth Dealership's in 1973
that sold nearly 1,000,000 cars in total.

I bet a B&W interior looks better than an F6 interior with that color of green.
They seem to have made a lot of F1/F6 (of the F1 cars).

A/C was still not as prevalent in 73 as it is today (IIRC it's still an option on a camry), although the likelihood of finding it is much more than pre-70/71-ish.
Perhaps a little less so on A (and E) body cars.
