Since I can't buy the wheels I want due to budget right now, and I have rallye's,
will a 255/60/14 fit and be safe on mopar 6x14 rallyes?
Wondering if clearances will be OK on a bone stock 74 Duster with a 8-1/4 rear.

Those tires are meant for a 7-9" wide rim. You can probably get away with 245/60R14 though. I had 235/60R14 on a 6" wide Cragar and the sidewalls were starting to bulge a bit.

The 235/60R14 tires seemed a bit wide for the 6" by 14" rally's but I didn't notice any driving issues with them in the rear.

I had 235 60 14 on 6" rallye wheels , about as large as I'd go .

I got the car with 15" cop wheels on the back they have 255/60/15 now. There are 14 x 6 rallyes on the front with 245/60/14 on them.

I was being economy minded but I think I'll wait till i can spring for the wheels I want.

The tire manufacturer will tell you what rim width is minimum for each tire width (it will vary slightly by manufacturer). TireRack.com has all the stats in its tire database. But I think 225 would be the max recommended for a 5.5 in rim.

I have 235/60/14 TA's on my 14x5.5 rallyes with no issues.
