Andy, what don`t u like about the victor style heads ? I`m talking big block.-----My biggest gripe w/ the procomps are the ends aren't machined off, making them huge and fairly heavy for an alum. head. Mine (cnc) flow pretty darn good.Victor heads can make a lot of power but they do have some weird quirks to them so you might want to do some research before you buy them. It all depends on how much power you are trying to make, other other parts you have on hand and how big your budget is. I'm not a huge fan of the Victor heads but some people have had good luck with them. I run Indy EZ heads on my 514 and it makes good power so I just stick with it but lots of guys don't like Indy either so I guess it boils down to who or what you like.
Already running the victor knock offs, haven`t got it broke in yet, still refining little things. (7yr build) I can tell u that what little I`ve played w/ it, it has me greatly anticipating a dragstrip run, it really wants to get w/ the program when the converter locks up. Haven`t had it over 5000 rpm yet. A t this point I just want it to stay together, getting too old for hard line mechanix. feels like it`s going to have an unbelievable top end.I'm curious what power level you plan to make? AndyF brings up some good points. YOu may not need, nor want a Victor head. I was going to run Victors and ended up with ported RPM heads. Saved a bunch of cash too. But I'm only looking to be in the low to mid 600hp range.
GREAT INFO! I really appreciate it. I'm really trying to get the motor in the low 700's I know the best head is probably the Indy 440-1 but just don't feel like spending the $4,500 or whatever it is... given all the info here I think ill end up with the trick flow 270's
