Hunting season 2020

Anyone besides me excited about hunting season this year already? Our archery season doesnt open till October. Muzzleloader and rifle in November but I'm pumped already I can't wait. We got some studs on camera this summer I'm hoping I can add one or two to my wall. (And freezer)

White tail and mule deer, October November and December. 2 tags
Bear in September also.
Plus I have my mountain lion tag for Nov-April.
And a late season plains elk Nov-Jan.
Oh yeah, late season bear tag unlimited plains.
Most will be taken with my arrow.

Sounds like you gotta busy fall ahead of you! Iv always wanted to go on a elk hunt and a moose hunt. Antelope sounds fun too. I built a new rifle this past winter I'd like to try on elk. It's a 338 federal built on a ruger American action. Topped with a burris scope. I'm going to be hunting with it this November cant wait to try it out.

Been putting in for moose for 14 years and have not drawn a tag yet. same with mountain goat.
I think the antelope will be taken with a
375 Socom ar/15. Otherwise I have to put a long range rifle on em. Just meat hunting, not necessarily horn hunting.

Oh ya! I am pumped. Absolutely jonsing to get into a treestand, alone, no phone calls, texts, emails.... Gotta wait a few more months though Got a Buck and 5 antleress tags again this year. Hope to get that deep freeze filled up again.

But have been prepping the parcel by clearing shooting lanes, checking the red dogwood and sumac browse I planted (had to cage it until fall/winter cause they kept browsing lol. Now they just prune the stuff that grows out of the fencing ha!)

Even cleared the canopy to get some light to the micro plots I'm trying this year. We'll see how that goes. But looking good after a couple weeks.

I hear that 338 is quite the reacher. What kind of range and velocity are you getting with it?

Around 2700 with a 200g nosler accubond ballistics are spot on with a 308. Its dropping about 52" at 500 (same as 308 with a 180 grain) except it has more energy than the 308.

Looks like a nice place to relax! My wife dont get it she sees it as setting alone for hours in the cold. But for me it's my church my peaceful quit place to be alone with God and his creation. It is my sanctuary. For 3 months at a time I get to be one with nature lol

264 is a awesome round. Iv always liked the 260 and 6.5x55 in the 264 class. I am(was) working on a 6.5x55 mauser project it got pushed to the side this spring so I could work on my car hopefully this winter I can get back on it.

Wild hog season is open year round in Texas!!

Been talking to a number of my contacts at CPW and they're seeing a hell of a lot more Colorado resident licenses being bought this year and less non-resident licenses. That being said - I'm expecting A LOT of inexperienced hunters out there applying a ridiculous amount of pressure on public land elk, deer & birds...

I hunt all big game via archery on public lands and all upland birds in Colorado on public lands as well. Excited to hear the increased interest in hunting, but I'm worried about what I'll see when I'm out there.

I've been scouting for bulls every weekend since early July and have a few 5x6 & 6x6 bulls' patterns figured out. Hope they don't change on September 1st like they always seem to lol. Gotta put in the work and be willing to push harder to be successful!

Amen brother! My wife has questioned my sanity for sitting alone in the woods for 12+ hours a day, often in freezing, wet, blustery conditions for 31 years now. Though she sure loves it when I am fortunate enough to bring home a deer or two for the freezer!

I didn't get drawn for a moose tag this year but I am going with another hunter that got drawn. Moose hunting is not something you do alone. Besides I speak fluent moose. I put out a mineral block near one of my stand locations and have been getting lots of activity. My deer season is going to be a little more comfortable this year as well. The new stand is done. Even has a front deck. lol

Trail cams are such fun. One of my co-workers placed one at the bottom of one of our inactive pits at the rock farm. We were pretty sure we had wild pigs and just wanted to see. One of the images looked similar to this.

The head and torso weren't quite captured that well but the rump and distinguishing tail were very plain to see .
Yeah. Little Lucy (the pit) has wildlife.

That looks awesome I love the blind! I would love to try my hand at moose it's on my bucket list for sure! How do the tags work for non residents? I want to someday go to Maine on a moose hunt.
