idle help

just installed a holley 2 barrel 350 cfm on my 318. It starts then proceeds to rev all the way up, i have to shut it off, that is the only way to stop it. Afterwords there is usually a little fire up top. The throttle is in the closed position when this happens?

it sounds to me like the needle and seat is sticking open with a vacuum leak.are the flouts to high.

I'm thinking that you left the pcv valve port on the carb open. Either that or the idle is just set to high. The choke high idle cam may be adjusted incorrectly as well.

i am stupid. I mounted the throttle cable in a stud that was too far out, in essence holding the throttle open. woops! Thanks for the replies though!
