pics.
I cleaned up the 8 1/4 rear inside and out and installed it as is.

looking good! sucks that the quarters are rusty how far up does it go?

Thanks for asking.
The funny thing is with this car is that the driver's side was terrible, the passenger side is almost rust free. The car wasn't undercoated from the factory except in the standard spots that all of the cars got.
The undercarriage and frame rails only had light surface rust on them. The only rust through on the car is a small hole in the rocker, some holes down low in front of the rear tire in the quarter, the trunk drop off and bottom quarter on the bottom behind the rear tire all on the driver's side! The rust scabs on the rear quarter are a result of some poor body work in it's past. The door and front fender were also bad on the driver's side too, and i changed them already.
The floor pan on the driver's side wasn't too bad with a couple of holes, but i changed the whole thing anyway. The bottom of the trunk floor where the gas tank mount is had some holes so i replaced it too.
I am buying a partial rear amd quarter for the driver's side up to about the filler neck, i have a new trunk drop off already, and i have a rust free rocker patch to take care of that bad spot.

Great looking project and can't wait to see it done. I do love the Dart Sport. I have one in my area that has been for sale since I was 16 years I'm now 39 and the guy still wont budge on the price.

I would love to own it as its a 340 car and original H code but he still has Barret Jackson prices but not a BJ car.

I like that its going to be a driver no matter what I wish we had more on the road each day.

I love this project.

Looks awesome Tom! With all those Dart Sports you have you could build 5 good ones!
Where did you get that nice washer fluid bottle?

Thanks, Mike.
I got the washer bottle out of the '75 red parts car.
I just cleaned it up and installed it. Works good too!
As far as putting together a few more cars, that's my plan for the next few years. Nobody around here wants to buy a project car not running, especially a Dart Sport. So i am going to get a few running and complete. Then i probably won't want to sell them! (You know how that goes!)

Thanks for the kind words and the Dart Sport you are talking about sounds interesting. I would love to see pictures of it.
Yes, driving the car a lot is my plan. That's why it's not getting a 10 grand paint job and over the top detailing.
I plan to have it driving in the spring. :burnout:
You know, i've always liked your handle "CoronetRTguy". I was big into the Coronets back in the day and had a 440 4 speed '69 Coronet as well as a 440 4 speed '69 Super Bee. I drove '69 Coronet 4 doors and A bodies in the winter for years. I would love to have another one someday!

Cool car, O love Dart Sports

Thanks Adam, did you decide on a color for your Duster yet?
I would say my vote is dark Green!
These Dart Sports and Dusters look great that color, especially with white stripes.

Its gonna stay green. Probably its original F8. I bought the textured black to do the hood black out and Im thinking white stripe and the black and white interior.

Cool.
So it's going to have roughly the same combination as mine.
You should change the color of the jacket and pants on your monkey avitar to F8. It's more of an F5 now!

Yeah I love the Coronets and wish I still had my 70 but I knew I would never get it done with health problems so I let someone else who is going to do a nut and bolt job on it do it.

You sound like you had a good collection of them and its awesome you drove four door cars in the winter! I was thinking of doing that when and if I ever own another car.

Here is a link to the pics of the Dart Sport in my area. He has had I know since I was a kid in high school and I have tried buying a few cars over the years from him. He had this Dart when I bought my 66 Mustand off him as my frist car and I was 16 then.

Can't wait to see more of your car and on the road man!

That Dart Sport in that link looks pretty good. Just curious, what does he want for it? There's no way i could buy it, just curious that's all.
The Coronets were good winter cars for sure, good in the snow, good heaters, etc. I still have a couple of them left, they are just parts cars now.....
My '69 Coronet R/T went to a guy that spent big bucks restoring it, and as far as i know, he still has it and drives it regularly.
The stories about cars i could tell!
Here's a few pics of the Coronets i drove, the Super Bee is the faded turquoise one.
And the black 318 4 door that i won my class bracket racing it in Spokane, Washington back in the late 80's!

HAHA I love those cars! I also love the story to them and would love to hear more. I've been toying with the idea of writing a fiction book (still working on two others right now) on street racing back in the day using our beloved Mopars. I will use others as well to get a bigger base lol.

The Dart Sport he wants 17 thousand for it. The place doesnt have the best rep for body work and Its over priced or at least I think it is.

I tried to buy a 68 Charger R/T from him (Fake R/T) and I started going over the car and pointing out what was wrong and he was like your just a kid you have no clue. I looked at him and said just from the parts I see wrong on the car and not to mention the numbers on the fender tag its not a real R/T. I was kicked out of the shop one of many in my area lol. I was well known to the local shops in the area selling Mopars at a very young age.

He did have a 70 R/T but full of bondo and I remember bits of this car and it looked nice might be the best one he has in the collection but I would have to look it over and at 17k not happening.

Yeah, that red Dart Sport is a bit steep at 17 grand.
The hobby is full of people that don't know the true value of cars or try to pass off fakes as originals.
My Dart Sport still has all of the slant 6 numbers and fender tag on it. I purposely left it that way, i could have swapped the numbers from a crashed 360 Dart Sport that i have, but i would never do that.

I guess it's time for an update.
I bought the Summit header back exhaust kit (2 1/2'' mandrel bent) and fitted it in place so i could take it to the exhaust shop and have them make head pipes, and then tie it all together.
It's just wired up and the rear hangers are on it roughly in place.
It needs a little trimming here and there, but i think that it will be pretty darn good especially since i have under $250 into it landed here in Lethbridge.

Christmas came a little early, Rob bought me some polished 2 1/2'' stainless tips to go along with the exhaust.
They are by no means ''show quality'' but are perfect for what i want them for, and the price reflects it at about $125 a pair.
He got them from P&G classics.

That is going to look and sound great! You sure can't beat the price either....Less than $250.00? You're Laughing!! I love this car, and thanks for posting some updates!

Thanks, i've been sick lately and haven't worked on the car much until recently.
The price was $244.00 U.S. shipped to the border, and a friend of mine was going there anyway to pick up some parts, so i tagged along and bought him lunch.
I didn't have to pay GST or duty because the border guy on the Canadian side said it was under $300.00.

That looks to be a B or E body bell . Is it?

No, it's an A Body one, it came out of a '73 duster 318 4 speed car i parted out several years back that was very rusty.
The casting number on it was 35515734.

Great progress.Exhaust looks good. Motor and trans ready to go? I could be wrong, but I think that pulley goes on the front of the motor. Ha Ha.:coffee2:

When you bought your exhaust, did you buy the header back kit?

Yes, i bought the header back kit, Summit 680144. It's designed to use with Hooker super comp's.
I'm just going to get the muffler shop to make up head pipes to fit into the rest and tie it in from there.....
