ok i will try to K I S S I have a 65 Dart GT was /6 3 spd on tree nowSB 8334 spd. Shumaker mounts brewers 4 spd conversion ..heres the things #1 Z bar is out of alignment as if eng was 1/2 in to far back .#2 NO exhuast i have wil work first the Spitfires WOnt clear steering shaft 02 5.2 Mag truck manifolds Wont work hits the steering box??? what are my Opitons?? V 8 K frame? IS there a signifigant difference between /6 K mem and V8 K mem??? stock 273 manifolds ( dont Really want to D Tune eng)

According to some earlier threads. The early A should have a thick rubber biscuit mount. As for the 1/2" forward and back, I don't know. Wrong side of block ears makes about a 1/2 wrong.

KframesAreSame6or8(post3)FindmanyPhotosofenginemountsHere.Problyuboltedwrongside.KISS=punctuation.

/6 or V8 K members were the same until '67. Which side of the mounting 'eers are your mount brackets bolted to? If they are bolted to the front side of the mounting 'eers (GO WVU beat TCU) it will put the engine roughly 1/2" toward the rear of the car. Moving the brackets to the other side of the 'eers will move the engine roughly 1/2" toward the front of the car. That should line up the clutch linkage and possibly provide enough clearance for the Spitfires. The Magnum manifolds will still hit the steering coupler but you can grind enough off the manifold flange and the coupler for everything to clear and still function. Sounds like you need to take a break for a while and enjoy an adult beverage or your favorite combustible plant material or both. Cramming a V8 into a space designed for an inline six is frustrating to say the least, but the results are well worth it. Pardon the WVU reference but I couldn't help my self. That's where my mind goes when I see or hear anything close to "Mountaineers". My family has lived in WV since at least 1797 and WVU has been our college of choice since 1869...

SORRY for the Grammar. Im a Welder NOT an English major.thank you for the replies.the mounts are on the back side of Ears.I found a set of exh. manifolds from a 64 Dart with a 273.How much power will i loose running those vs spitfires?

het 65DartGT, i'm an Ozark ridgerunner, ( sorta like hillbilly). everyone says they will chock it down some for sure. probably a lot for loss of power depends on what your small block is ( low compression 318?0 or big horse stroker??? and what your intended use is? driver, drag strip terror??
don't feel bad about the punctuation... I was scolded severly ofr hitting the cap key by mistake, and not starting paragraphs at the proper place! LOL
my reply was , "sorry". I worked hard for Ag gregree from U odf Ga in '70. and they didn't think I needed to know any dainged grammar! and also by best friend told me anyone that went to college was just an " educated " idiot! LOL
hey keep us informed as to the outcome....

There's a thread on the Spitfire install: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=44321
and somewhere within the thread someone mentioned they thought it was a 30 HP gain over early A stock manifolds. Don't know how true that statement is. From the pictures provided on that thread I can't see where on the driver's side there's any interference with the steering column tube. Now if you have PS, don't think they'll fit.

There I fixed it.

Fortunately my sister saved me from that since everybody was so proud of her they never noticed what I did. She has a doctorate now and doesn't have the sense that God gave a goose. Definitely forgot what Mom taught us about getting above our raising.

To the OP. Had a set of those manifolds and studied them at length. Looks to me like most of the restriction is at the outlet where the ball for the head pipe to seal on necks the outlet size down to 1 1/2" on both manifolds. If you measure the outside of the balls it comes out to almost 2 1/4". I was thinking that if I had those balls machined off and the outlet opened up to 2 1/4" these manifolds would flow almost as good as a 340 manifold which ain't bad. Might work if you can find a flat pipe flange and a gasket that would work. Maybe Dakota parts would do the trick???

Barbee 6043 Engine is a 318 9.8-1 compression Workd over 308 heads Edlelbrock dual plain and Thermquad carb windage tray 367HP at cran 353 ft lbs of torque was the highest dino pull .where are you in So Mo Im near West plains Mtn View can Always use another Mopar Brother close by

my column tube isnt the problem as i have a floor shift column. the interference is the steering Coupler hits #3cyl tube where it collects with #1 tube

I've run ported, at the heads, factory manifolds on a 273 with "J" heads. It ran great with either the single Commando straight through or duals with turbo mufflers. You will leave hp on the table but I got tired of dealing with headers a long time ago. You can run a 71 340 center dump exhaust manifold on the passenger side as it exits at the same place but has the bigger ports and cross section. I had mine Jet Hot coated inside and out. When I built the car TTI's or Doug's headers were not available.

The box coupling in early A is larger than the later ones. I'm not sure what year these changed.
Again from previous threads, Parts and rebuild kits for those early couplings are very difficult to find. This is a pretty good reason to just replace the box coupling with a universal type.

which universal coupling would be recomended or should i try to get a newer year stock? i have a salvage yard that has a few 67 8 9 a bodies and same year and newr b bodies

the 5.2 truck manifold on the passenger side seem to "fit" the dump i need .right between bh and tortion bar will it mess up eng balance(rich or lean) to run that on pass side and Gasket matched 273 on Drivers side? if for nothing else but ease of down pipe i will be running side pipes in order to keep tranny xmember and sub frame connectors from being a nightmare to manuver around

I've never noticed a difference in engine balance(rich or lean) from bank to bank, but have not specifically used a magnum exhaust manifold. I have definite opinions on side pipes, having self branded a leg on one. Mine are in the land fill.
