Hey guys I was wanting some opinions on what to do to try and improve my 60ft times. I'm running 1.7 and 1.8 for 60ft, it's a 65 valiant, about 3100lbs it has sub frame connectors, I'm using 90/10 shocks up front, a tall pinion snubber, I have been using spring clamps in the rear, Its got 26x9 Hoosier QTP's that are a about 3 years old it doesn't feel like it's spinning but I haven't had anyone back at the start to see what's going on. I do have a set of slide a links (comp engineering cal tracks) that I will be putting on to see if that helps and some new tires also. Is there anything else's I might need to look at? The car is a small block with a 727 the converter flashes at 3800. I'm running 4.10 gear in the rear. We have Dyno tuned it to 369hp and 343tq the car runs fair for a stock stroke small block but I'm just getting used to it and want more ya know? Best ET is 12.06 at 108 or 110 if I remember correctly.
Please, all comments or suggestions are welcome.

Better converter. Something 8" in diameter that stalls about 1200 under the shift point. Ultimate or ATI would be my top choices. Shouldn't be too hard to get 1.6 something 60' times going off your MPH.

a 1.7 60' with a 12.00 is about in line with expectations of a decent leaving car.

To get better requires some sciencing out the combo.

Wow thank you guys I guess I just assumed that this had more in it, thank you for the reassurance. Does anyone know any early a specifics on getting this car on a diet? I would like to get it down to around 2700 if possible.

Was that specifically converter built for your combo or is it an off the shelf "3800 stall"?

It was built for my old setup. Was just gonna do a head swap (Indy RHS) that turned out to be a lot more than that, the only thing that stayed the same was the carb.

one idea that comes to mind is the use of a gasket as thin as possible (1/16 in.) between the carb and intake, maximizing torque in that aspect.
a locked-timing distributor might help on take-off too.
removal of the air cleaner at the track will make a difference also.
this mod would be for a street car that you drive to the track, not a race car.
i can see you are looking at suspension tips but i had to let you know about these mods.
maybe this is all too ``old school`` and you already know about it.

110 mph 1206 et chassis is working pretty good. Need more power to go faster. 1206 et very respectable.

Do you have the clamps on the front segment or the rear of the leaf springs?? they should be on the front and remove the rear ones..try a pair of drag shocks set at 50/50..my '70 duster street car ie: full exhaust, interior all steel except hood running a "stock stroke" 360 with a 3800 stall converter runs 11.80's best of 11.79...

Are you using SS springs or something else. what kind of 90/10. The cheap adjustable 3 way aren't very good. Getting to 2700 lbs isn't easy unless full blown stripped race car. I run a Duster its 2900 with out me in it. Im also running a bench seat. Lots of room for improvement.
