now i thought the plate under an iron inlet was to keep the exhaust crossover heat from burning the oil in the valley? when i've taken them off there's a build up of carbon (burnt oil) under neath. With folks taking the plates off the bottom of cast iron intakes for sand blasting or whatever reason.... this wouldn't require one as far as needing to keep oil from scorching the plenum's......IMOP....and keep lifters where they need to be.... hopefully...LOL
I'm sure there is truth to that.....but I usually block the heat crossover in my neck of woods anyways. If I run manifolds, I look for some without the flap.now i thought the plate under an iron inlet was to keep the exhaust crossover heat from burning the oil in the valley? when I've taken them off there's a buildup of carbon (burnt oil) under neath.
