I have 4 sale a 72 360 bored 60 over,
Eagle 4" stroke crankshaft,
340 stock type rods with extra oiling hole,
Icon pistons,
Arp main studs,
Windage tray,
Kevco racing pan & pickup tube,
Double roller timing chain & front cover.

I got this short block from a friend who decided it was a little more than he wanted for the street, it only had a couple hundred miles on it when he took it out and pulled the heads, I got it with the intent to use it for drag racing and I've decided not to fool with it anymore. $875.00 obo

i found this for sale close to me and im wanting to go look at it but needing some help figuring out why they used 340 rods? are they stronger? or does it even matter? do you think this is a deal?

if it is as stated its a super good deal the 340 rods are said to be stronger by some.

Personally I'm not a fan of 60 over 360 blocks especially on the street. Seen several run hot over the years.

If it was done right it's a steal but I'd tear it down for an inspection because that price sounds too good to be true IMO. As for the 340 rods, their decent rods if their in good shape. Hopefully their either new rods or they had them resized. If not I wouldn't trust them.

Normally I'm not a fan of .060 over bored blocks either but early 360 blocks, like that one, are said to have really thick cylinder walls. I built my 408 using an early 73 360 block and had it sonic tested and it was really thick. My machinist said it could have easily gone .060 over without an issue. Once in a while you run into one that has core shift and that can be an issue.

Oh horse hockey. A .060 over 360 aint prone to overheat anymore than anything else. As long as you don't have a POS for a cooling system it will be fine.

Sounds like a heck of a deal to me. But like fishy68 said, I'd tear it down or have it torn down and gone through.

If it is a steel crank, yes good deal, if it is a cast Eagle crank (which is probably is)...I would pass. Since you don't know if any of it is good, the price would need to be low enough to cover you should the whole thing be crap except what you can see...JMO.

edit: If it is disassembled, that would be a different story...It would be easier to tell what is good and what is not. The only gamble would be the block since you can't mag it on the spot (check for cracks).
