I can buy this pumpkin for $150...
it appears to be an 8 3/4 with a clutch style sure grip. Guy says it is a 50s rear end ?

I believe so. Get the casting number off the driver's side and post it. A lot of these guys can tell you what it is, even if it's not a common number.
 
I would also ask for spline count on the axles, they did weird stuff in the 40's, 50's and early 60's with those rears.
My 46 Dodge also has that style with 4.10 ratio, its almost cheaper to change over to later model stuff than to buy brake parts for it.

Banjo type rear ends were introduced in '57. That should interchange just fine. I believe there was some thrust block variations in non suregrip units prior to 64. This is probably from one of the early units that had tapered axles.

That’s not a factory 8.75 clutch sure grip. Look at the differential case, it is something else.
 
I checked it out and it is not an 8 3/4.
It is out of a 52 Dodge truck .
It is 3.73 sure grip that was gone thru .
Retired guy is building ( and learning) about Mopars. $150 if anyone needs a 50s suregrip !

57 was the first year for the 8 3/4. Definitely not the first year for banjo rear end.
 
If it's for that W-2 headed motor I'd be looking for a Dana 60...

Lol ... no it was for the parts . I saw the Suregrip and thought it was a deal for 150 IF it was an 8 3/4 . I knew there were various banjo style pumpkins but could verify from the angles of the pics .
