Did you rebuild the carb or is it a remanufactured one? Just because it was bought as a rebuilt, doesn't mean it was done right. My float on my 1920 was so far off, I'm surprised it even ran. If I recall the float was suppose to be set at about 3/16" and it was more like 3/4".

Turn up the idle a bit... Or check what it is is gear etc.

I knew a feller who set his LA 318 at TDC I said "That's retarded" ( meaning the timing) he didn't like that... he was an "old coot" 85 years old so he didn't listen either...
