I've been a 3+ pack a day smoker for 35+ years. Haven't had a smoke for 45 hours.

Some make it some don’t. My Mom died at age 33 smoking 2paks a day. My grandmother smoked more than that a day lived to 89 she lost a lung and on oxygen still continued to smoke to her final day. Good luck and stay at it .

That is great news, I was wondering how you were doing, glad you stuck it out!

My wife hates the smell of cigarettes, we can be sitting in traffic with the car windows open and she will often smell it coming from another vehicle, "somebody's smoking!", she'll say. I don't mind the smell, my boss smokes, as do some co-workers and friends, but hate the smell on my clothes.

You hear a lot about peer pressure....in high school, 'Mike' smoked, and smoked a lot. All of us, his friends, would tell him, "That ****'s not good for you..." Mike just laughed it off. He smoked for the next few decades...always had a cig going. I can't imagine the $$ alone that cost. Anyway, last year Mike, after a punishing 6 months of hospital visits, died of lung cancer.

Keep up the good work!
Sorry to hear about your friend.

You got this! You have alot of support here! Friends from the US and Canada rooting for you! 3 packs a day...was that a stroker hemi your going to build next?

On my way to work at a Harley dealership in Reno years ago, everyday I'd see an older heavy set woman who rode her motorized cart to the bus stop. Strapped on the back was her oxygen tank , cigarette in mouth, mask on her forehead and I was always waiting for her to go kaboom!!

Atta boy Ron keep it up your encouraging me, I smoke a pack a day and was thinking it's time to stop I also drink to much and gotta stop that or slow down.

I MADE IT A YEAR!
I still talk to people that are shocked I did this... I was the poster boy for smoking.
I feel so much better. Things smell so much better. Things taste so much better (and that's a curse in it's on way!).

Seriously, if I can do this, you can.

If you're thinking about it, do it. If you need someone to yell at, commiserate with, whatever.. holler.

Dude, that is so awesome to hear!! Congratulations on a year!!

It's amazing how bad those damn things are on our bodies. I hit 20 years quit this month. Except I did smoke 1 four months later on 9-11-2001. Only 1 though.

Congrats on a year..Im'a still smoking but sure wouldn't mind quitting If'n I didn't think that the world would be a really unsafe place if I didn't have that pop-off valve as a go to!

If you're thinking about it, just do it. I 'thought' about it for years.. those have a way of turning from a few years to tens of years.
There's a lot of ways to have a 'cool down' that a smoke gives you. For me, I walk around the block (or a few blocks) did the trick. The nicotine (for me) wasn't the cool down.. it was taking myself out of whatever was pissing me off at the time.

FANTASTIC! Seriously, I'm really happy for you, I know how tough it was for me, I quit July 1, 1996 and have never looked back. Well done, congratulate yourself, you've come a long way, keep up the good work.

I'm about ready to bear down. I've got just about every damn thing I need.
Glad to hear that and would like to see you and family at Mopars in the park in Minneapolis sometime before I'm dead. lol
