Well guys I am proud to say I have finally got an intake manifold that I bought from one of our own, an Edelbrock Torker 340. Just got it today and opened her up after I got home. It is raining when I did this by the way haha. Well I tore off the old 2bbl intake, checked out the cam pushrods, and anything else I could see. Slapped on the new Eddy, looked at it, and said SWEET! Man does it look good on it, look alot better once I clean everything up and get it all painted! Then since I know and saw the Eddy was alot taller then the stocker, I went and mesaured a 750 Holley for the height, got some boards and stacked them up to about the same height as the Holley. Well, I can shut my hood, if I dont run an air cleaner haha. I think a 4 inch cowl induction hood would do it. I am taking it to school tomorrow and cleaning the stocker and the new Eddy then I will post pics. Good day all around. toothy7

I bet you can get an open element air cleaner with a dropped base (They were commonly used on Chevrolet big blocks) and the thinnest element you can find and it will clear. Also you may have to replace the carb stud with a bolt the exact lenth to hold the breather on instead of the wingnut.I have to run one like that on my Chevelle because of hood clearance.Without the drop base it just wouldn't work.I also used the really thin K&N air filter. It just does clear, actually it rubs the hood insulation slightly but It clears the hood.
Check out Ebay # 130086873917 this is the one I am talking about!

Has Torker 340 stamped on it, whats your opinion on it?
Well you asked and here it is.

It'll make some good power. I myself would use it with a high (Numeric) gear ratio and stall converter to get me in the powerband of the big cam I'd use with it.
Get me off the line and into the bottom of the rpm scale that I would want to be at. (Or in otherwords, where peak torque is and not lower)

I would have work done on the intake if I could. If you can DIY, rather than pay, you'll be just that much better. Ask for advice on the matter from a shop that does this. The single plane Torker and others could stand a bennifit from a port matching and plenum work to help fuel distrubution. (sp) A problem with single plane intakes.
I myself would use a square bore carb. If I had money to spend on it, I would look at a Holley HP or Demon. (Most inatke mods I have ever read about or seen done are making use of a Holley or Demon squarebore carb. Fuel distribution is the reason why.)
Fine tune with spacers.

IMO, the Torker intake line is an excellent intake to use on the cheap. But it works, OK, in a narrow window.

I thought the same exact thing. I was just curious as to your opinion. I knew just by looking at it that I could only run high RPMs with it and it wouldnt be a great street intake. Thats for next summer or possibly this summer when I build my race engine, hehe.

Well, if it is used in the street, it would work for a serious street/strip type build.
You could do a moderate compresion engine, decent cam, portewd head, etc.... with a high stall and rear ratio as well.
It would just be limited in where it goes unless you have a fat wallet for the week.

Love my Edelbrock Performer !!!!!!
It is like a totally different motor with it on.
Enjoy !!!

Here are my valve covers, I didnt do that other one due to I wanted you all to see what I started with and how it is now. No sandblasting, just about a days worth of sanding and razor blading it, then painting it on the Darts hood haha.

All looks great, glad your happy...I'm kinda smiling, my covers came as well :tongue9:
