I was laying under my car wasting time today and noticed this seam in the middle of my k member. Is this normal or was this thing cut in half sometime in the last fourty something years?

One i got in the garage from a 73 Swinger 318 has the seam. And very poorly welded i might add.

It is on a 73 swinger so that makes since. Im noticing a lot of real bad welds now that I am taking all the old paint and crap off the bottom. Also a lot of leaks!

I understand the leaks. Had easily a quarter inch of hardened crud all over my member!

My leaks aren't bad at all. Never enough to leave more then a couple drips after a drive but when I crawl under my car and see fluids on parts it drives me nuts.
I spent six hours under the car today grinding and cleaning before I paint it and I only got the front half done! Tomorrow's going to suck.
