Popular Mechanics

Chrysler is introducing a new thin-wall casting engine block for the
upcoming Model Year. The engine will be designated the 'LA' engine.

This engine block is lighter than the current 'A' Block, which was introduced in 1956 by Chrysler, and called the 'Hy-Fire 277'.

The new designed thin-wall casting engine block will be 50 lbs. lighter than the
current 'A' engine block.

I gotta ask.
Do you have a room filled with 8 feet tall bookshelves of archived hot-rodding encyclopedias and magazines? Lol!

All true and I'll tell you something else. The 4" stroke small block crank will fit right in the Poly motor. IMO, their heads are superior to LA heads when ported and fixed up. They can be made into real torque monsters.

Also, the blocks are almost indistinguishable from the LA small block at a glance. They are basically the same identical size.

I should have posted, that this was an incorrect statement from the Magazine, so the lesser knowing would know that this was a 'tongue-in-cheek' post.

You're a kill! You have forgotten more about Mopars than I will ever remember. LOL

My colloquial talents were intended for the 'higher' knowledge Mopar heads.

Bottom-feeders and Georgia-based members do not get the 'joke'.

There is one incorrect statement in this post and I dare you or anyone to show me otherwise.

Go on and show me that a poly head can be used on a Magnum block. NOT happening!

A Magnum head should work on a Poly block as stated in the comparison. tmm

Rumblefish

I believe the 'above' post states that newer 'LA' Cylinder Heads and Magnum Cylinder Heads can be utilized on 'Poly' blocks.

You are correct on the Poly Heads, they will not work on
a Magnum Block.

The LA should have been for people going to say that's a Little Ass 273 when getting away from the Poly.
