I broke my laptop tonight. So I had to borrow my son to post here tonight. I will come in when I can.

Most likely something is lose in it if you checked the ram and hard drive they might not be in all the way I've fixed mass people just gave me cause they thought it was done for heads up if you take it apart lots of tiny parts like a carb lol

I just hate to see people spend cash for new ones when they aren't that hard to fix

I agree with you 100%! The last two laptops I've gotten were supposedly "dead" when all they needed was a simple fix.

Before you write it off Cliff, get it checked out. It could be something easy to fix.

Yep checked it all out nothing loose. So it's toast I won't put it in the shop.

I can't put it in the shop or pay to fix it. I just can't do it my $$$$ are needed else where

Well I could always offer free tech support by phone let me know if your up for it shoot me a pmI'll give you my number

Not very knowledgeable about these but could it be the battery is bad?

No it's not the battery. The battery has been dead over a year I ran it off the power cord.

The hard drive is ok because my son put it in this laptop to check it it worked fine. So it's in the motherboard or the on and off switch. It's over 2 years old and isn't worth fixing.

You might want to consider letting my girl look at it. She brought this on back from the dead. She is super good and cheap too!! What brand is it?

You are describing exactlt what this one was doing. Total cost to repair $50.00.

take some compressed air and blow out the vents. a laptop will overheat and shut down if it cant get any cooling through the heat sincs. overtime these get cloged with dust and pet hair and it will actually cause the computer to fail just like you described.

It won't fail from over heating that fast. It could have a small crack in the solder after they get power it expands. A little trick use a hand held black light over the board it will show the cracks where normally you couldn't see them then a quick hit with the gun and it's good as new

Yes it will, especially if someone has taken it apart and not replaced the grease.

You should blow it out every so often anyway.

Replaced mine not to long ago, the side with the screen in it has a gigantic crack in it, still works but I can not close it and have ot be very gentle when picked it up/putting it down. Never understood making these things out of plastic....

send it to me ....i will see if i can get it fixed and i will send it back to you fixed.... simple as that.

In India we are all computer hacks bcoz thats where all the tech support goes and thats where they test a lot of the upcoming models.....i have software engineer cousins that can prolly fix it over the phone, if i cant myself LOL ......my dell was built by them with a lot parts that had not even been released yet at the time LOL

but seriously i know your on a budget, if i can get it fixed then it will just cost you shipping to get it over here. just sayin.

Yes you should. But if it's shutting down after 30 sec there is something else wrong as in my classes we ran many with no heat sync and no fan average time to shut down from overheating is 10 min shortest time was around 5 min. 30 seconds is not a over heating problem
