O.k., I've searched the threads but haven't found an outright answer to my question. What is the largest wheel/tire combo I can go with on a 68 cuda. It has SS springs, not sure if that matters. Right now I have 15 in rims and my BF Goodrich drag radials aren't cutting it with the 408:snakeman: My tire size right now is 235/60 R15. When I looked at it on the rack is seems I have at least an inch and a half of room to spare between the tire and the spring. Just asking what you guys with similar combos are running.

Thanks as Always,
Darren

I've run 15x8's with a P255/60/15" 4.250" backspace (pic attached). I also had SS springs. Some people claim they can fit P275/60/15"s under there but most cars seem to vary so it's a "plug and play" with the vehicle you have. Any good tire shop with work with you and get you the "look" you desire.

275-60-15. You need a rim with a 4.25" backspacing or you need to use the offset spring hangers and you can run up to a 4-7/8" backspacing.

i am about to put on 15x8 cop wheels with a 4.5" bs and a 255/60r15 tire. looks like it will fit fine to me. 275 seems a little close to the spring for cornering and sidewall flex. 17 or 18" rims with a lower profile tire might be ok with a 275.

Tweety ran a 325x50x15 BFG Dot Drag tires on the back of his cuda, he only used the offset spring hangers, which moves the spring in about 3/4". I'll have to go pull one of the wheels and measure the back spacing, as they are on my Demon now.

As always, thanks for all of this valuable info guys. These are the responses I was looking for. I love this site.

Norm, I had 325-50s on the back of my car also but on a 8.5" they bulge a lot and ride bad. They need a 15X10" rim which would fit with a 4.5" backspacing most likely but I think they would hang out past the wheel well to much.

i have a 275/60 15 on the back of my 69 cuda, no rub, stock spring/location. 15x8 whell on back 4.5 in b.s.

Is there much difference between the Cuda;s and Dart's? 69 Cuda same space as 69 Dart? Just curious...

I just picked up 15X7 wheels for my 67 Dart w/ 4.5" backspacing. I'm going to try and squeeze 275/60's...we'll see.

I run 275/60 T/A Drag Radials on stock Mopar 15x7 steel wheels at the track and 275/60's on a stansard offset 15x7 Torgue Thrust D without a problem.

I asked Stockton Wheel what was the largest wheel/tire package I could get under the fenders of my 72 Demon. With Rallye or cop car wheels (7 inches wide, 4¼ backspace), they said 235/60-15. Since I already had a pair of 255/60s mounted, I checked and found that they were very close to the rear spring and they would rub in multiple places in front when turning with front end approaching lower travel limits. I bought 235/60 T/As and have had no problems. Someone told me that different axles have different lengths, so I think the advice to trial fit is a good. Since my purchase I've seen a device at a Discount Tires shop that can bolt on the hub and check clearance without having to mount a tire. Wish I had seen it earlier.

I think it`s like Suregrip391 mentioned, each 68 Cuda is a little different but I was able to run 15 x 8 wheels with 275/60-15 tires and 4.25" backspace with stock spring location.

275-60-15 = about 2" taller than stock. 275-50-15 = about stock height. If you like jacked in back go 275-60, if you like fat and level go 275-50.

Then again is your suspension doing what you need it to do? I run E-70-14s with a sub 2 sec 60' time.

I have run a 275/50/15 drag radial on 68 cuda with 15x8 4,5 backspace. My rearend is centered with the Mopar offset spring hangers. I had some slight rubbing on outside fenderwells. My problem was I had Moser axles and went to 10x 2.5 B body brakes this changed my offset by about 3/8 inch causing the rub. You have to consider everything.
