Yet Another sunny day ... wait a minute , what !

Are those white fluffy things scattered around the sky ?

Oh no not that ! We have rules !

Those dang fluffy things had better take heed . The rules state they can visit but only for a short time and they can not join together .

Now to get the temperature to raise from 46* up to at least 67* like yesterday .

After all rules are rules :)

You live in a great place but just to expensive for me.
I would like to get a motor home one day and check out the area and enjoy some winter weather there.

You’re welcome .

What makes it expensive is the fair weather tax , $ 100,000 as a one thing when you move here from somewhere else except from Hawaii .

Gee when you think about it it’s not that bad considering one doesn’t have to replace rusted out vehicles, gather and chop wood every year , remove snow , freeze your butt off , etc .

Cloudy day today. Not even supposed to hit 50. Calling for snow by middle of the week.

Hope you all stay cool today.

Mid 40s and dry here
Its supposed to snow Monday and Tuesday

I hope not, I got to put new brakes on the plow truck but I couldn't find a socket for the lugnuts to get the ghetto wheels of the truck

So I ordered one a week ago and im still waiting for it

I'd really like to get those brakes done before I start plowing again

Always some kinda tax.
Freezing isn't to bad but ya the cost to heat is.

Well I jest when I say sunshine “tax” .

If your home cost $ 100,000 there it would cost $ 200,000 here etc.
There are exceptions like along the coast where your $ 100,000 home would cost anywhere from $ 500,000 to over a million in metro areas .

In my area you can find homes as low as $ 175,000 , but new 3 bed 2 bath 1800 sq ft go for $ 300,000 to $ 400,000 . Average price in my town is $ 236,130 , in my county the average is $ 295,000 . In the adjoining city of Redding the avg. is $ 324,000 .

When you consider the property tax is 10 % based on the selling price and can only go up 1 % a year it’s not a bad deal thanks to the 1977 proposition 13 law .

Back in ‘77 when I bought my first house I paid $ 53,500 the prop.tax the previous year was $ 425
Then the county sent me notice that the tax would be $ 1400 unless prop 13 passed then it would be $ 530 . I kept that house 29 years and the prop tax was only $ 1000 , thank you prop 13 .

Oh sure we have a high gasoline tax between the Fed and State close to $ 1.

Sales tax is just 7.25 % here more in metro areas .

So that gives you an idea what it’s like here .

I couldn't afford it on my income that's why I live here it's cheap. Well was to the oil fields moved in but cheaper than there.

I know a gal who wanted to sell her Condo in Pismo Beach , buy a motor home and travel . We talked her out of selling and into renting it instead . If she sold she wouldn't be able to come back as home prices were climbing and still are .
So she bought the motor home and set off she traveled around the country and landed at her son's place in Michigan around thanksgiving and planed to winter there ... that only lasted through the weekend and she headed south as fast a she could to defrost .
She continued to travel a few more years , she picked up a job at a RV park in AZ. and later met us in Oregon at a state park and talked her way into a job at the park . She loved it and went on to work several other state parks around OR.

When she finally had enough she came back to Pismo and her condo sold the Motorhome for about what she paid for it and has been happy as a clam ever since .

I can understand traveling for a bit then coming back home was thinking of doing the same. I found an older GMC bus down the road from me that has a new engine and tranny in it and was thinking of getting it and have another toy to tinker with but not sure if it's really worth it might be cheaper just getting a motor home.

We live in the city and if we sold our place right now it would probably list for 650,000 and it's 1000 square feet with a 22x24 garage. It might even get into a bidding war and go near 700,000. My taxes are 4300 bucks. People sell their place in Toronto for a million+ and move out here so they pay the higher bucks.

Hey Mark how you feeling today?
I've stopped taking the Tylenol Arthritis for now. I've had an upset stomach and out of the last 5 days I've had toast for supper for three of those days. Right now my left shoulder is hurting like hell. I'll be calling my Dr tomorrow and see what he suggests. I start physio on Friday. Thanks for asking Fred.
Was a beautiful day today had a cold wind. My wife put the xmas lights up today. I helped as much as I could.

Please tell me for that amount of dough it sits on 100+ acres?

Even when you translate that back to real (U.S.) dollars that sounds expensive

We sit on 2.5 acres, 3700 square feet, 2 stall and a single stall attached garage
6 bed, 3.5 bath, and we paid right around $350K about 5 years ago

Ok all this real estate talk has me upset , my house 1050 main floor plus basement so 2100 square feet, built a 26x26 garage sits on 66x125 lot 4800$ a year in taxes plus garbage, sewer and water more water you use more sewer you pay , you guys down there sound like you got it better than us Canucks .

Oh and my house was built in 61 , and is worth about 400,000

My house is 1100 sq ft, 2 bedroom with a third bedroom in the basement, 2 bathrooms, 61 x 125 ft lot. Had no garage when we bought it, I built the detached 24 x 30. We paid $262,000 for it 7 1/2 years ago, property taxes are around $3400.00, plus sewer and water. Had an appraisal done 6 years ago, after the garage was built and it was valued at $325,000 then. House was built in 1960.
