a few years ago we had a company come out and install a conversion for in the tub
those two screws come out and the whole door lifts out, making for a much lower step to get into it
with the door in place and the screws tight, it is water tight and can be used as a soaker again
the door itself was around $500 and installation $300
i considered installing it myself, but when it leaked after 2 days and the guy came back to fix it, i was glad i spend the extra money to have someone else do it
now, one word of caution
make sure everyone in the house knows how to use this
why, you ask?
i will tell you
my youngest is 3, my middle one is 8
a few months ago my little one wanted to take a bath and my middle one helped her
only the middle one didnt know about the screws, so she just put the door in and turned on the water
now, the little one knows once the water gets up to the faucet, you need to shut it off
however, since the screws werent in, the water just ran out under the door and unto the floor
im not sure how long this went on for, but my oldest went to get something downstairs (the bathtub is on the main level) and noticed what he called "something from jumanji" with water pouring out of the light fixture and vent downstairs
that whole thing turned out to be about $20,000.00 worth of damages
