Lay down Sally...

Steer n gear in Ohio, they actually rebuild the whole unit, instead of replacing a few wore parts like the parts store ones.
Around $350

Thanks! I knew there was another great company, but couldn't think of the name.

I have bought a few of there boxes, super easy to deal with.
They charge you for the core up front, when the new box arrives it also comes with a cardboard box, with an attached shipping label to ship the old one back, super easy.

Tore into the engine a bit. Looking okay so far. Just gotta pull the rockers and the cam. Slap it back together.

Well it’s been awhile so update time. It’s going to be a bit picture heavy. So the car went to the shop and basically it went down hill from there. Ended up need to replace both front rails....fully. Someone tried to fix it at one point and basically made it worse then bondoed over it. So it took a little while to track down some front rails that were worth paying for, no one makes new ones yet so that really sucked. The shop is new getting the front all fixed up now, going to miss most the season for driving her but at least she will be safe, right?

While waiting for the car, I slapped a Hughes cam in the engine and a double roller timing chain also a Kevko oil pan. Repainted it to corporate blue, cause I like color a bit better. Got new headlights and relay kit to convert it to LED. Denso alternator. Steering coupler. Speedo cable. Etc etc. but finally getting all the parts in to start to make the car good again.

Hopefully she comes home soon.

They're getting ready to put some paint on her and get he back together. Ended up deciding to do the rear as well. Where the springs go on the backend was getting rough too. Shop said I could wait but I figured while the cars in there then we might as well! So new AMD full rear rails on the way!

As good as that car looks, hard to believe the rails were that bad.

Yeah agreed, basically someone previously tried to cover it all up and then they bondoed the front end and tried to patch the rear with aluminum and rivets then bondo. So it wasn’t going to last either way

I hope they did not do the sheetmetal the same way

Worked most of the weekend and got a few things done. Head lights replaced, was going to do LEDs but the bulbs ended up being to big for the housings I got and really didn’t like how the housing fit the buckets. Did a flaming river steering joint to replace the worn out rag joint. Worlds better. Then got the transmission in and the engine. The engine went in hard, seemed to be the hardest install I’ve had but now on to the tedious stuff. Also Loki the mechanic dog helping out.

I will have to check them out! Thanks!
You are welcome, I used them for years and only had to replace one bulb, standard parts store stuff.
My daughter is still driving the Jeep, I also had an extra set of hella 500 lights on the front bumper, tired into the high beams with a relay, that Jeep had a awesome set of high beams.

So it’s been a pretty rough few days working on the car. Ended up fixing tons of bad wiring, messed up transmission linkage, things not lining up. Just a bunch of crap. Needed a new battery, swapped two different carbs on/rebuilt one of those ended up needing to get a new one. Settled for a QFT brawler, really like it so far. Fighting a bad vacuum leak right now but she does run. Only issues I’ve got so far, the passenger side rear is sitting 3 inches higher then the driver? maybe the shop swapped leaf springs? The rear lights stay on with any power, bad ground possible? Anyway enjoy the video.

Well forgot to update this. Spent a long time chasing little things. Plugs keep fouling up, tried a few different thing ended up trying new plugs that were hotter. Seemed to have straightened out the fouled plugs. Need to replace the fuel line to the carb, rebuild the front end, get some new rear leaf springs. But she’s slowly coming back together.

So again it has been a minute or two since I have updated. The whole world went and got crazy on me. I lost my job last year, worked a few odd jobs/temp stuff till I ended up with another company. Started to get back to normal than my dad came to me about buying a business, which I decided to help with. so I’ve been running the day to day operations for him. Which has been way better on my health, mentally and physically.

So to the car, I was able to save up some money and order some new leaf springs, Dr Diff stage 2 brakes, PST tubular control arms, and front suspension rebuild items mostly Moog stuff. I still need to get it aligned so I can drive her but it all coming together.

Hello all!

finally got the car to an alignment shop and sorting out the last bits. Drove it an hour from my parents farm to out house and picked up a new set of wheels and tires. Nothing crazy but definitely really liking the style more. Hope everyone is doing good!

For some dumb reason I keep thinking a set of Cragar mags would look good on your car.......especially a deep dish Cragar and fat rear tires. You know that 1970's to '80s look. Either way it looks good Tony.

Nice!

Always liked the look of your car, glad to see you are finally driving it again.

Did you stick with the same size wheels and tires or change it up?
