Lay down Sally...

Ran to the gas station and back. Got an appointment with the exhaust shop this week. Gotta make sure she's ready.

Forgot to post up after exhaust work was done. Went with borla Pro XS in 3 inch. It sounds absolutely amazing. Loud but not annoying. I don't have a good exhaust clip but do have a pull with both windows down.

Also gave her a much deserved bath.

Went to a local cruise in tonight with a fellow forum member and former owner of the duster. Pretty happy with that car right now.

Bought an action style camera. I was testing it out. Here's a clip from today's fun. You get a good sound clip of the exhaust.

Been going to local shows and just driving the car. From a recent show, attached. The old owner of the car has the blue scamp now.

I have recently found that under hard acceleration I loose oil pressure. I think it's cause the pan is to small. I went with a stock A body 5qt pan, no baffles or windage tray. So I was looking at doing either a new pan or a oil accumulator system. I think the pan might be a hard swap. Also learned I want more cam as well. As well as looking at the Holley sniper EFI kit, I think I could do all that and have a pretty awesome car.

You sold your old car to the guy you bought the Duster off of?

Ok, I thought he bought the original car you started with.

Your car looks really awesome in the pictures around town!! I know it feels good to be driving it.

Funny how no matter how much we got, we always want (just a little bit more) power:steering:

Nothing really new on the Duster just have been driving and enjoying it.

But I did buy me a new daily driver. It's 17 GT preformence pack with a 6 speed. Super fun to drive.

Nice new toy, watch them Fords they like to find the nearest ditch.
Those cars are fun, buddy had a GT500 supercharged Shelby, it was basically a coffin waiting for the nail to be put in.
He sold it after a short while, I asked him why, he said he could not break the car, but it was going to break him, he said it was too light and had a mind of its own.

It's super fun to drive, it pretty controllable with some driving smarts. Plenty of power for a daily.

A super charger would be fun though...

Not much new on the duster lately. Have been focusing on my dart so I can take the duster on the road for a bit to do the cam, fix my oil problem, and do some interior work. Going to get a new cam, this one isn’t bad but not happy with it over all. Probably go with a Hughes grind. At a car show I was talking with an old man about my oil issue and he started talking about the ram chargers and how they had to add a windage try to keep the oil centered. I went out and tested that theory and it’s correct. Under heavy acceleration the nose picks up and sloshes the oil around but if you stay smooth under acceleration then you have no issue. So either I need a new pan or a windage tray. Then on the interior the front seat is pretty worn. So I’ve been thinking about pulling it and the rear to have them recovered, keep the dark green outside and then do a green and white plaid on the inside. As well as change out the carpet. What about heads? I thought about having Hughes do there stealth port job to these. Or maybe go aluminum. Just curious on thoughts.

Here’s a few pictures of the ol girl.

The windage tray is to keep the oil from slinging around the crank case, and to return it to the pan. I think it will help, but a new, baffled pan would work better by keeping the oil from sloshing away from the pickup. I had a stock pan on a 440 that did the same thing. Went with a Milodon pan, and no more issues.

So first time the ol girl kind of let me down. I’ve easily put about 6000 miles on this engine since I built it and all of the sudden she kept throwing belt. My buddy and I decided to visit my parents and go to huge car show by them, it’s about a two hour drive. So we left in the afternoon got about an hour in and decided to get some food. When we got back on the highway, I all the sudden lost power steering and the alternator. We pulled over to find that one belt was ate up and one was alright but both were off. We were able to run one on the water pump and alternator to get us back to the small town where we could buy some new belts. We found the crank pulley was loose so we tightened it back down and we were on our way to my parents for the night. The next day we drove to the car show and everything was fine but when we left the car show she threw both belts again and ate one up. So we replaced the bad belt with an extra one I had bought. But a few miles later they threw again. So we started digging in. The harmonic dampener was super loose but the bolt was tight. Fearing the dampener was separating and really not having an option to fix it, I had her towed back to my parents. We pulled the dampener off to find the bolt was about half an inch to long! So we tracked down a new bolt and put new belts son. We were able to drive her home with no issues!

That is definitely not a factory bolt.

Mopar performance still sells the windage tray kits, it comes with the bolts etc.
Summit racing has them in stock.

You are right, I could remember getting one but I did find a receipt for it in my records so oops on my part.

Sweet I’ll have to check them out! Thanks man!

Damnn! I would think you would feel a loose balancer ??
So you are right, it felt a bit shakier when we had left. But I didn’t think about it.

So had another mishap leaving the biggest show we have around here. Had a flat tire so I swapped the front tires from dart over, then I dug the look so I swapped the rears on too. Went to a night car meet and the car was super popular.

So I’ve been trying to figure out how to get a bit more power out of the car. I’ve reached out to Comp for a custom grind cam. I was thinking that I’d have to heads worked. They are EQs that Hughes built already 2.02 valves, but Hughes offers a stealth porting package. It would be around $800 after shipping. Think it’s worth it? I could have someone local do it as well but I don’t know if it’ll be any cheaper or better.
Not a lot of choice for magnum heads out there, Edelbrock has the RPMs which might be a bit better option?

Getting a Kevko Racing pan, that’ll help with oil control issue.

Been thinking about having the seats reupholstered. Not sure if I want to keep the bench seat or go with some buckets. But I would like to keep the dark green vinyl then do a light green/white plaid or houndstooth insert. Also have new carpet for it too.

A few ideas going through my head but enjoy the pictures and let me know if you have any thought on the above ideas.
