First off does anyone restore original leaf spring? And secondly can anyone tell me exactly what spring part number 2403853 is?

I don't know about the part number, but yes, leaf springs can be restored. They can be re-arched, but it won't last as long as new springs by a good margin, plus, the cost is probably about the same or even a little more than new springs. I've re-arched a good many springs before. It's kinda a lost art. I prefer to re-arch them cold, but some people heat them up. The heated springs really don't last very long at all......well I've never seen any that do. When new springs are so affordable, that's the direction I recommend.

Just did it, followed dadsbee 69 dart clean up. Ordered the kit to rebuild sand blasted and sprayed with t9 and came out looking great. But if i was to do it again u can reuse everything except the plastic between the leaves and u can make the metal between the sleeves your self. Me personally i would make most of the product because i like doing it if u can’t buy it.

GO BRAVES!!

Look for a truck spring shop and ask them if they rearch springs, most do but like RRR said its getting to be a lost art. I have one by me in Akron Ohio that can rearch them for cheap. They did a repair on one for me about 6 years ago, the main leaf was bent bad two different directions like a Z from a hard hit from the rear. All the leafs were bent somewhat and he straightened them out. I had the other side that wasn't bent to compare and they were a prefect match, He charged me $10.00 and that included a new I bolt and 2 clamps, I was in shock. They have been around for about 80 years they are really the best. They only bend them cold.

Brian do they restore the springs also? Want the to look new

I've also dealt with General Spring for new springs. They are very good as well.

I think he needs to keep his original springs with the part # in them.

If that's the case, he needs them restored. I don't even know of anyone that does it. Maybe that John R Spring place can help.

Yes I found a set of 081 springs that probably were original ro the car. They were taken off early and have been bouncing around for 50 years. They are not horrible but definitely need work

That's actually good they were removed. Sitting up in one spot for prolonged periods with weight on them is what kills them quickly. Driving down the road, not so much.
