We just installed one in our 904 and picked the car up from 7.50 to 7.28 1/8 mile.We thought that the converter was soaking up all the energy when we shifted with a transgo manual conversion kit .We didnt want a manual valve body because they were reverse pattern. Wala standard pattern. Works great! Now to take the restrictor plate out and see if we can make a 6.80-6.90 pass. 510 tq 510 hp assphault eating stroker smallblock 414 W2 .

wow very interesting. you do know they make forward pattern manual valve bodies correct? The type you are reffering to that wont work with a stock shifter is P - R - 1 - 2 - 3. That is reverse. A forward shift is just like stock P - R- 3 - 2 - 1.

Sounds like you've knocked quite a bit of time off by just messing with the tranny, can you elaborate on the restrictor plate mod? Whats it do to the function of the trans? and how do you do it? I've never heard of that. I did notice that when i went from a cheap 3000stall converter to my 9 1/2" dynamic, the converter tends to 'stall' when shifting and it doesnt feel quite as hard. Are you saying what you did got rid of that 'stall' feeling?

nice work!

Aaah yes we run a 7.50 index class with a 6.90 car . Soo we have to slow the car down , a lot of people retard timing ,use a throttle stop ,richen the jets, etc. We use a restrictor plate with interchangable venturi which vary in sizes from 1.300 1.200 1.100 and 1.000. Previously we ran 1.200 to make the car run 7.50 in the 1/8th mile when we changed the valve body with the 1.200 it ran 7.28 in the 1/8th. We ended up putting 1.000 to make the car run 7.50 in the 1/8th. This also picked up the 60ft time from 1.59 to 1.56.

We have had traction issues but hope that we now have them ironed out. Maybe we can make a wide open pass soon to see what the car will actually do.
