massive reconfiguration time again.

Huh, that should be a nice CFM.

Vacuum secondarys right?

That should be a hell of a street stomping set up.

Also tomorrow I can try and drive it without the air filters on and see how the secondary doors open....

I can tell it's got very good throttle response and when it gets tuned in I'm going to probably be pretty happy with it. It's just the learning curve again LOL but again like you were saying it's her toys to play with and when it gets boring then gets tossed aside...

Well this gets boring I'll dig out those Speedmaster aluminum heads and start in on them...

sorry, I've been out of touch with the latest and greatest on this thread. Do those Demons have adjustable air flaps like a TQ ?

Yes but I haven't had to adjust those yet. It seems like a pretty good transition... They have Holley secondary Jets and their own standalone metering rods and primary Jets. I just found out a trial-and-error that they do have the same step up Springs as the Edelbrock and I believe they have the same acceleratorpump as well and I think some other part that I can't remember. Post 1489 on the last page kind of has a rundown on the step up Springs of both.. the difference you can see is between the 6 and the seven spring.. one has one and one has the other but all are the same.. there's one major difference Edelbrock Springs are about $9 a set and the Demon Springs I got $27 a set remember , ×2..

From my TQ days..... those back flaps are the most important adjustment in getting the carb to respond at a instant mash of the gas pedal at a low rpm. They work very successfully if one takes the time to get them set right. You have 2, and they must work in unification.

Today was starting from the ground up and getting the primary idle circuit correct. Yesterday it was running so rich when I first tried it out, and it was choking out when I hit the secondaries. Today all I did was take those heavy number seven Springs out and put the yellow Springs that I had in my old Edelbrock in there and it was instantly and major difference.. I counted the turns on the idle mixture screws and the rear carburetor had one and a half turns out and the front carb two turns out.. I turned the fronts in a half turn to match the back and picked up a little bit of idle and got a little leaner.... Just changing the springs the wideband O2 up about two and a half.. yesterday it was running around 9 barely 10 and today I was seeing hi 11 12 and 13's.. another thing that O2 sensor was going a little crazy...
I certainly wasn't smelling massive amounts of fuel like yesterday and I got one chance to get onto it pretty hard after it started out in first and it started frying tires while I was moving.. that's a good sign and at no point did it have any kind of bog...

This isn't giving my plugs a fair shake as they are the ones that I've been running for a little while. And of course yesterday they were really rich and today they were I believe a bit leaner. That's like the number eight number two and number three I believe. I don't know I figured I'd post them up anyways...

The only problem I'm having now is the return to idle. I have to blip it most times to get it to drop all the way down and that drives me nuts.. I have pretty tight Springs on there as it is and it makes the throttle hard to maneuver. Once I get that figured out I'd like to get a chance to drive a little bit and maybe even put some new plugs in it to see how it's running in general and also having some time to take it on the freeway and open it up some and then check the plugs...

Yup.. new plugs..
The wide band is all over the place..
I don't want to throw in leaner jets until I have a more clear understanding of what's going on...
I'll get more fuel, new plugs, and take a 20-30 mile drive.. city, freeway, and country roads... Then take a looksy at the plugs...

Full tank of gas and brand new spark plugs.. will give these carburetors a chance on the open road.. I'll try to do 20-30 miles of a mix of country road freeway and City. I do have a primary and secondary set of jets that are one step leaner waiting.. I'll give these spark plugs a read when I get home and make a determination... I'm hoping I can maybe take the air filters off for a little bit to see if the secondary flaps are operating in unisense...

Well I got about 5 miles out and didn't like the way it was running and it was getting crappy going into the secondaries. I stopped at a grocery store parking lot and pulled the air filters off so I could watch the secondary doors on the way back and they we're not opening barely at all. of course the linkage wasn't returning like I like it to a lot of the time some of the time it did but not just easing right back down on the idol like it showed it was holding at about 1500 and sometimes 2K.. then blip the throttle on back down to 900... I feel if I put any more Springs on this and we're going to break throttle cable LOL...
there's a plug brand new with 12 miles on it and mind you I did shut the feel off right at the end kind of empty down the carburetors so I can pull the throttle back and forth and see if I can figure some way to get them to shut down all the way..

???????!!!????....

Are the carbs sticking on the high speed idle screw?
Do you have the hot wire to the choke?

I have the rear one locked out as in Twisted all the way forward and it's wide open and the front one I can visually see the doors open and I twisted that one a little bit further out as well so we'll see what's going on there...

There's a little Chrome plate above that I'm going to take the screw out so I can watch that as well..

I tried adjusting the air doors a little lighter and they seem to open but didn't stop my massive bog when I jam the pedal down..
Also runs very crappy when I roll out of a heavy stomp on the pedal as well...
Seems to idle good LOL...
I'm giving up for the day getting regrouped and probably going to have to start out again Monday and Tuesday and give it a good thing tomorrow as it will be raining.,.

I would think opening the air door to soon would create more of a bog. aka AFB

yeah that's the way I went first and then I put a quarter-turn closed and it seemed to help more.. but by far not enough.. I might have to continue that direction but I really need to get a read on these plugs and figure out if I need to throw these leiner jets in? Or I need to change my step up Springs?...
Head is spinnin...
