So I was going to install my oil pan on my 5.9 magnum, milodon small block Mopar and the front seats up great but the rear well you can see a huge gap in the back. Does the milodon not work on the magnum? What massive damn seal goes back there?

Did later magnum 360/5.9 motors take the smaller rear main cap 318/340 pan?

Which LA small block was this pan for? LA 318/340 is different than LA 360 and all the magnums use the LA 360 pan.

Thanks for clarifying.

So 5.2 and 5.9 magnum motor take the larger rear main and seal.??

Is the magnum oil pan and gasket different??

That explains it, it’s a 30935 milodon pan for a 318/340. Darn it. Looks like I’ll be looking for a new to me oil pan and selling this one off.

Didn’t realize it till I tried to install it.

Do yourself a favor and when you get another pan don't buy another milodon. At least not that particular one. I could go on about the problems I've had with mine From brand new. One of the factory Welds leaked right out of the gate. In my a body I had to cut the K member. The driver side header touches it. I had to bang on it to make the oil pump fit. I had to bang on it to make the pickup fit.

I too had issues with my milodon pan, a major one being a factory weld failing on me during cam break in.

I don't have any first hand experience with Kevco, but have heard good things. Might be worth a try...

Agreed! Isn't it nice to have that brand new Stroker and having the opportunity to have the pan upside down and put it on there all nicely taking your time and getting it all right and then breaking your motor in and seeing the oil dripping on the ground from the factory weld!? Then calling milodon and having them say "oh no not again!"

Oh you got me started now! LOL well Summit credited me a discount and milodon said they would replace it. It's still wears the J-B Weld covered by the right stuff from Permatex. Do I want to chance sending it to them and telling me it wasn't their fault blah blah blah and sending it back and me having my car down for a month waiting for them? I'm not willing to take that chance...

I’ll be posting the milodon shortly for sale and getting the kevco. Trying to get ready for dragweek. Just another minor setback.

Thank U milodon for this great product! I don't know what I would have done without cutting my K frame and having the header smashed up against the side of it. Of course the last time I mentioned this a member blastef on me for not knowing this fifteen-year-old problem! LOL and after 15 years they still haven't cured it...

A leaking weld is a real isue.
Having to cut a slight notch in the K member could have been avoided from milodo (at a price and that would most certainly have ment people would but ***** about that instead) but realy most of us already know about this even thought Milodon could be more clear about it.
Two different aftermarket parts from different manufacturers not fitting perfectly togheter? Thats pretty much what one can expect.

The sure was helpful I appreciate it..

if I were you id go ahead and weld the whole thing up from the inside then let her sit full of water over night.
Better yet don't buy that pan again..

Well water is the problem! In California they can't use solvents to test for leaks. Water doesn't travel like solvent or hot oil does..

Also apparently because supposedly most have heard about this problem for many years everyone supposed to know about it the first time they go by an 8 quart oil pan. I posted it here on the forum that I was going to get it and no flood of information came in telling me to stop. I feel like I'm at least trying to do my part..

ok let it sit full of whiskey, i don't care sommabitch sure as hell wont hold oil! The best part is waiting until you've got it in the car and all your **** rigged up to find out she leaks.

You're preaching to the choir! Or wait till you finally saved up and spent one crap ton of money at the machine shop to get the stroker you always dreamed of and having the time to do it all correctly upside down on a motor stand then get it in their break in the motor and find out it's leaking!

I actually had the Moroso 8 qt in mine never leaked but i didn't like how low it sat to the ground so i put this POS in. Guess I should have known better too.
