Mopar engines from 1960 to 1973 (correct Engine Colors)
The following list should serve as a good start to finding the correct engine color for 1960 - 1973 mopars, Starting in 1969 the engine color became Mopar Paint P4349217

*1969 and 1970 340LA engines - were painted Street Hemi Orange - for any 340 engines that appears to be more orange than red were probably Mopar Paint P4349216

**Lots of doubt as to the real color - Chrysler says turquoise was correct. On those two years let your original color be the one to use.

Thanks for the needed info, but I thought all 68 383's were turquoise? I have a 68 383 4 spd Fomula Sn & the original motor was orange, but I think I see a small spec or two or turquoise under it. Any info as to the correct color would be appreciated.

The 383 in my old 68 Charger was turquoise.
 
Just a bit of trivia...in Australia, all /6's were red. but the 2 barrel 160HP /6 were torquoise. The last /6's were used in 1969 with the VF Valiant. 1970 saw the 245 Hemi 6 introduced in the VG Valiant, an all aussie made donk. Although you could get a bottom dollar VG ute with a /6 in it, but are as rare as the proverbial rockin horse doo-doo.
The first Hemi 6's were red, in the VG & VH, but went to torquoise in the VJ, VK, CL & CM. The Hemi 6 were available in 215, 245 and 265....( 3.5lt, 4.0lt & 4.3lt ).
The 265 in E49 spec had more than 320hp...would push the VH Charger down the 1/4 at 14.4 secs and about 100mph, on skinny 14x6 wheels.....as tested back in 1972.
 
71 340's were orange as far as I know? The above text says blue, but the paint can info says orange....LOL :toothy10:

What website did this originate from? Guess it doesn't matter.....paint it your way!

71 340's were orange until about February-March 1971, then they swapped to blue.

Nice catch C...
