I running a Mopar M1 dual plane intake on my Magnum headed 340 right now. And I have a leaky intake gasket that needs replaced. I was wondering if it would be worth the $ and trouble to switch to a Edelbrock RPM dual plane? I would have to remove the heads to be drilled for the LA intake bolt pattern.
Since I'm using exhaust manifolds I don't know if an RPM would be all that much better than the M1. Anyone have an opinion one way or another. Thanks for your input.

With using exhaust manifolds I would doubt you will uncork much with swapping to an rpm air gap. One of the mopar techs even told me the m1 is just a air gap. with a spread bore flange, even cast by edelbrock for mopar.. Id just swap to a good intake gasket, coat them in Indian head gasket maker, and stick with the m1 since you already have one for a magnum. My 2 cents. Good luck.

Got to be alot easier way to find a hp in your ride then go thru all that for a couple horses, especially in the summer. Fix the gaskets & burn rubber...

Bad MoPar mechanic. The MP M1 dual plane is a squarebore carb. Not a spreadbore.
The MP dual plane should be left on there. The AG will be a time and money waste.

Lol. So im a bad mechanic because the m1 intake I have sitting in my shop is dual studded for either flange? My dearest apologies for not knowing the magnum version is square only. Guess I better park the 9 second smallblock dart I built from the ground up.

your jab was Irrelevant to the topic. Point blank, not worth the swap.

The jab wasn't ment for you but for ( now that I understand better?)
Both of you. Yourself and the mechanic or is that one in the same. Hard to tell from a dishonest man that makes a confession.

Here's why...

One of the mopar techs even told me the m1 is just a air gap. with a spread bore flange, even cast by edelbrock for mopar.

Now considering this is part of what I quoted from your post and then you defend it as if YOU made the call on what is a no brainer mistake, which is it now?
Are you the mechanic or the idiot that just took what he said as fact and ran with it?

The bottom line is, there was a mistake made by what you said, "one of the MoPar techs told you."

If the tech told you, then he is a bad tech.

But there is another problem here because you jumped up to defend it, took it as a jab on you personally as if YOU made the comment. Well, did you in fact make the comment or not?
Because if you did make the comment, it casts a shadow of ill and doubt on your credibility not only as a person that knows what he is talking about but also if your really a mechanic or not.
Not to mention, do you really have a 9 sec. car?
Which has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Anybody can see your trying to use the sentence as a bolstering point, as in, because you have a 9 second car you actually know what your talking about. Using it to defend yourself. Like it really matters! LMAO

IM glad you took it as a jab. Now go sit down in the corner and think before you reply lest I tear your reply up again and show the world, again, what a know nothing liar and B.S. Artist you really are spreading false information as truth.

Let's get this straight, the M1 dual plane is a squarebore intake without an air gap that is drilled with only one set of holes for the carb.
Am I not correct in this?
This is the intake posted by the OP is it not?
The intake you describe is a MP-M1 single plane correct?
(Not cast by Edelbrock by the way. Normally cast by Zues IIRC.)

(Jerk!)

The intake I have is a Mopar M1 dual plane with a square bore carb opening. It has the angled bypass hose connection and is drilled vertically for the Magnum intake bolts. There is also the LA style coil mounting bosses and the bosses for the RV-2 AC compressor.
I have decided to keep it on my car for now and fix the leaks.
I had my block deck surface cleaned up wit a .015 cut and didn't have the intake surface cut on the the heads. I thought it would be ok but it's leaking coolant and sucking some oil too.
I'll remove the intake and have it milled a little to seal it up.
Thanks guys for setting me straight, sometimes I over think stuff when the answer is obvious.

It's easy to over think and over look stuff sometimes. I'm also glad this board has a nice pool of like minded enthusiasts. Sometimes the old saying is true, a fresh set of eyes can help solve the problem.

Enjoy brother!

Wow lol. You really melted the letters off the keyboard with this one. Just didnt appreciate being called a bad mechanic over mistakenly referencing the wrong series intake. I didnt realize you were talking about the tech from mopar. Your reply is a little over the top. Sorry It fired you up. Lets all count to ten and take a breath here.:)

No worries JohnnyMac.
I'm not fired up, you assume to much.
My reply is certainly not over the top and no I didn't melt the key boards on the reply.
