mopar Nats 2022, 8/12-14/22 columbus oh

-
I used to go from mid 80s, last time there was maybe 2003. 12 hours from Mo.
I don't miss the nasty chitty porta poties, high priced motels, dusty sorry show grounds. It got to where the swapwas pretty much joke overall. Twenty years later, I can't imagine!

I’ve been going for about 30 years. Still my favorite show of the year. It has gotten more organized and they even have decent air conditioned bathroom trailers in a couple spots.

super is still 5.439 here in upstate ny. got to over 6 dollars in june

Came across this today.
I haven't done Brice or Heath for a long time. It used to be fun. I just zoom down and back on Saturday unless out of state Cuda buddies fly in and I escort them around in one of my Mopes.

I will be there looking for some headliner bow clips for a 70 Duster. also one of our guys is in charge of the survivor tent

I'll be there,2019 was my first year. Can't wait.

I plan on leaving tomorrow morning ,I just text him waiting on reply ,otherwise I will stop by his shop before I leave and post back

I just got word back ,he said not enough cars to get a tent ,so not happening ,probably another empty midway this year again ,o well leaving now will still have fun

We always have the same guys meet for our social gathering. Not too much about the cars, anymore. Hell, I don't take any pictures.

My son and I went and had a great time. Good show. Things sure have changed in the last 20 years since I’ve been to a big meet. It’s either all race or trailer queens. Not enough hot rodders making their car unique. Barret Jackson and Mecca has fooled too many people into thinking their car is a retirement plan. The Midway was disappointing though. Why were merchants selling new stuff back in the flea market?

One thing I noticed was there were more food vendors than parts vendors by the grand stands. If the trend keeps up this show is going to fail.

What I noticed this year was some guys packing up to leave at like 1:00 pm on Saturday. I talked to a couple of them, one of which I found out lives just a few miles from me, and they said they sold all their good stuff early Friday morning to vendors. Said same guy has been doing it last few years. He doesn't sell at show, just comes in very early Friday and buys all the good stuff he can find and leaves. He's just one of many I'm sure. Next year I will be there early Friday to try to beat the f-in vultures. Couldn't do it this year because had a parts buy set-up with another member for Saturday. We did go to Pontiac Nationals on Friday, good time.

Leaving Cincy at 11am tomorrow to head to Columbus.

Spent the weekend at Edgewater instead of driving to Columbus because the car still has some bugs to work out. Next year we should see about getting Cincinnati guys together in Columbus.

I noticed that too, thought maybe because looked like rain moving in.

My son and I went all three days. There were some sellers that didn't put out until Saturday..(Scored an excellent old dash pad for 200 bucks for his 64 dart - repro is almost 500 bucks?! Crazy)

We got out into the flea market early friday morning right after gates opened and there really wasn't much there unless you had an E body.

Anyway, Sunday was drizzling and we headed back south by 10 am and there was NOTHING going on. Show was essentially over.

I was really disappointed in the midway though as very little in performance or parts reps there. Maybe the internet has killed all that type of stuff.

Saw some really fantastic cars though!!

Wondered how Sunday was as I left early. 7hr ride home.Sounds like didn't miss anything.

The swap meet was great if you had a B or E body. A body stuff was few and far between, and seemed like it was either brand new repops or pulled out of the Ohio river on the way to Columbus.

I think Roadkill Nights in Detroit has pulled almost all of the corporate backing and big names away, not sure how much longer it’ll survive if things don’t change.

I pulled out Saturday around 5:00 pm.
It's been my experience that Friday is the day to be there if you need something.
Saturday is the day that people pick up stuff on impulse.
I brought nearly $5000 worth of locks and keys (my cost) and left with maybe $400 worth.
The bulk of my sales were Friday.
Saturday was mostly keys that I cut.
The foot traffic was good, and the weather was great.
There was some people who were way to high on their prices. I saw some one who had $300 on a 50 year old oil filter. There ain't no way I'd put a 50 year old oil filter on anything, let alone a $300 one.
I think the biggest draw to the Nats is the racing and the after show activities. I know as a vendor, that's what I get to see and the most fun for me.

I think it will unless it moves locations. They need to take a hard look how Moparty is ran in a couple weeks.
