Mopowers' 66 Dart Build

I took a break from the headache headliner and decided to install the trunk seal.

Once I got back on the headliner, I got it almost finished up when I realized the second to last headliner bow had sunk down a bit. Turns out, tab that holds the bow had bent down, allowing the bow to drop. Son of a *****!

I ended up pealing back the headliner and making a reinforcement to prevent it from dropping again. Luckily, I was able to reinstall the headliner without a problem.

This weekend I was able to finish up the headliner. It was my first one but I'm pretty proud. A total pain in the ***, but more tedious than "difficult." Not bad for a bonehead.

You're right about that. The cage certainly didn't make things easy. I just wish I was as flexible as I used to be.

Out of curiosity, I called a few interior shops before installing the headliner and none of them would touch it with a roll cage installed. Go figure.
 
The headliner looks great. I just finished mine and it is an 8. Waiting for cold weather before using a hairdryer to heat and cool to hopefully draw out some areas I am not happy with.

Thank you. I'm not sure if the later Darts are any different, but on the '66, if you have the perimeter of the headliner glued in place with contact cement, it's pretty easy to go around anywhere that's wrinkled, warm it up a tad, pop it off the cement, pull it a little tighter, and re-stick it. If that doesn't work, I've heard several hot/cold cycles may eliminate some of the wrinkles as well. At the end of the day, if there are some wrinkles, it's not the end of the world. Good luck!
 
Finally got a photo of the windshield installed. It went in pretty easily with help from the wifey. The corners of the lockstrip were a bit of a pain though. Time to get the interior back together. That should be fun and easy.

Fun stuff this weekend. I got all of the seals and weatherstrip installed, although aligning the door and quarter glass was a little tedious. Everything seals nicely and the glass rolls up and down nicely.

I also made these trim pieces for the headliner since I'm not using a proper package tray.

Lastly, I got the steering column installed. That's pretty much as far as I can get until I wire it up. That's up next.

This is the kind of car that stops me at a car show. All the details and clean work stands out. You can be proud of how it looks!

Thank you. I'm looking forward to getting this finished with. Or close enough to drive or do some burnouts at least.
