And I got a fair bit of room for more tire but I don't wanna get into the big boy tire size.

If I ever do it again I would run the mini tubs up to the package tray and set the car on the ground.

I take flat stock, make a plate that looks like an "E" and slide them between, frame and hanger. Cut them with a 4.5" grinder

The pic of the one for sale is much nice piece than mine.

Does anyone make a plate or spacer that mounts between the front leaf hanger and the frame to move the axle back a small amount? Im trying to create a little more space at the front of the wheelwell for a tall tire.

Ill make em for you for free prob have the material in my shop. I can use my dart as a template unless you have something diff just send me a drawing i can even slot the holes so there open on one end so all you have to do is slide it in place. And ill ship em to you no big, your just 1.5 so. Of me. Ill make em like crackedback said .

I had some 1/2 inch aluminum plate that I cut to fit and drilled to fit. Bought longer grade 8 bolts.

Does moving it that far affect the shackles? Seems like changing the angle would cause them to flatten or push them backwards?

Think of it this way, how do your shackles move when you go over a bump? A half inch won't effect much at all.

Like ToolmanMike said it doesn't affect the swing of that rear shackle that much, but it sure helps with adjusting for tire clearance against the front of the rear fender..

I would do it to my Swinger. Someone starts whittling out slip in spacers I might have to own a pair.

Althou, I kinda wanna know. What were you using 1/2 in aluminum plate for that you just had it laying around?

That isnt a bad idea I wonder if it would be enough to keep from shortening my driveshaft. Thst would be a cheap alternative. And two birds one stone!

Here's a couple for comparison. Small tires are ok but big tires look better if the axle is moved back. IMO

That isnt a bad idea I wonder if it would be enough to keep from shortening my driveshaft. Thst would be a cheap alternative. And two birds one stone!

The Nitto"s say they're 27 and 3/4 but the Hoosier slicks I had were 28 and we're much much closer. That's with the half inch block...

14" X 7" Aluminum Slots clearance to quarter, stock spring location.

Moving it back on a Plymouth is easy. Just use front spring mounts from a Dodge.

I definitely don't think I have any side by side pictures of like before and after but I knew I had to do it back when I had the slicks on the car they were just getting too close...

I'm not diggin my MP suspension book out, cause I don't give that much of a crap anymore, but there's "something" in there about the intentional short segment in the A body. I don't remember "what" but they talk about it being an advantage somehow. Maybe if my give a crap o meter goes up a little more, I'll dig it out, but probably not.

Right. The entire A body line got that front segment length. That's why, when you put the SS springs on a B body, you have to use the extended front spring hangers. The B body has a longer stock front segment. The front segment on the SS springs is stacked up thick as hell and short, so it acts like a factory traction bar.
