Got my restored grille emblem in the mail today. One more piece of the puzzle.

Doors aren’t rotted, bottom is solid. Only dents are where the mirror mounts and just in front of the door handle above the lower style line. I was expecting a lot more filler.

Vent window bolts came out easy, that’s promising. Knocking down surface rust to prep upper interior portion of door for satin black paint. Hopefully I can spray it with high build primer today. I may shoot this door with the off white Vanilla Milkshake to see how it looks.

I have seen plain chrome center caps on evilbay that you can buy for the mustang rims. Maybe put a mopar M or pentastar emblem in em or something like that.

Looking great. It may be a barracuda thing, but we started bodywork and primer with our drivers door too last year sometime lol

I gotta tell ya it’s going to be a challenge to make a budget driver out of a ‘66 Barracuda and getting stuff from Layson’s makes it even harder.

Haha, no kidding. I’ve always loved a challenge and so far I’m still on par with my total spent goal. I’ve managed to score a few things at incredible deals, but it balances out paying through the nose for things like that emblem. Bumpers are going to be a hard pill to swallow...

You have a nice stable of cars, Ben. I have no doubt 5his will turn out as nice as the others.
Looking at the earlier photo of the passenger side quarter panel, it looks like you have the classic crack under the back glass. My ‘64 had one side cracked and my ‘66 has both sides cracked. I had frame connectors welded in hopes that when I weld and repair mine, they don’t crack again.

Looks great. Being that's probably a single stage and is a non metallic finish, are you going to paint it a panel at a time? Or are you getting a feel for the color you want?

My buddy painted his tow truck solid chevrolet red Dupont centari years ago. Painted it one panel at a time. As long as he was pulling from the same gallon and shaking it up real well, the color matched perfectly from panel to panel.

I got this paint from UreChem, I used a base/clear on my Firebird and was really pleased with how it turned out. I painted it in sections; hood, doors, trunk, cowl, and finished by spraying the body.

This paint has some burnt orange pigment in it, mixes well and sprayed on nicely.

Picked up the 05+ Bullitt rims, can’t wait to get this thing all together. (I sprayed out what I had left in my gun rather than dump it, I wasn’t sure how well it was going to cover the door so I overestimated.)

Call Tri City Plating in Elizabethton, TN and see if they are coming to the Turkey Run at Daytona this year. They are the only place I will get bumpers done! If the are coming to that show, it would save you money on shipping both ways.

Door went on easily, I’m happy with the color. I was wondering on the first coat, you can see how it looks bright white initially from the thin spray out on the fender. Door has a light base coat and two medium wet coats.

I am sure it we I'll be fine if you dont need to wet sand and buff it. I have been told, and I could be wrong, that 4 coats with extra on the edges and high spots like character lines if you intend to wet sand and buff. Having an off white primer helps a lot with coverage and bleed thru. I cant wait to see it with those wheels actually on it. Looking good so far.

It laid down with minimal orange peel and I sprayed it about the same thickness as the clear coat on my Firebird and I color sanded, cut, and buffed it out with no issues. I only have a few nibs to sand out so I’m pretty sure it will be fine, especially hand sanding.
