well got the cart all done last night. just gotta hit it with wire wheel and knock off any slag then its off to powder coating.

here is the bottle support i was talking about.











then when i first put the cart togehter i welded the casters onto the frame. didnt take into account that powder coat has to bake at 400 degrees. so i had to cut them off and make them bolt on.

I don't usually offer trade secrets in public, but as to the 400 degrees for the powder, please note this:

With all those welds (very pretty welds I might add :-D), it would be a REALLY good idea to wire brush all of them and then outgas the cart at 500 degrees for a few hours before they start the blasting and prep work. It'll diminish/remove any trapped air and impurities in the metal and keep it from blowing out through your powder.

You can also buy all-metal casters that will survive the curing heat and won't leach grease all over the oven.

I can't wait to see what color(s) it's going to be!

thats the plan. i still gotta go over the whole thing with a flap wheel to knock off any slags balls. then i will be going over the whole things with the wire wheel on the grinder. i also will be drilling 1/8" holes in hidden spots to let the tubes "breathe". i doubt my welds are all air tight but i thought it would help.

i really appreciate the advise. i take what ever advise you give to heart. I think the cart is going to end up either class a silver (metal flake silver) or cream soda blue.

Very nice!

Since you live in the PNW with lots of humidity -- and probably will take it outside occasionally -- keep in mind in choosing the silver that it will also require a clear topcoat in order to be UV stable (it will oxidize over time since there's real metal in the powder). I have a bunch of those in stock already; what kind of silver are you looking for? I just ask because the one you shared up there is pretty matte in the grand scheme of things, and there's a couple argents that might interest you if you want to keep a Mopar theme. :-D (That's the same powder supplier I use.)
 
New work 2000,go enjoy that frosty adult beverage.The Mistress of Metal is dead on,about the metallic base needing extra UV protection.
 
ended up with a blue. they were running a batch of this color already and cut me a good deal. here it is. just gotta put all the bells and whistles on it now.

That is a huge compliment coming from someone with your talent. I thank you very much. I sure wish we were closer. My projects would be greatly improved with your help. I can tell you have a passion for your trade and it shows in your work.

My next project is going to be my favorite one yet. I have a tailgate off a 50`s dodge pick up with an absolutely beautiful patina. It's going to be my new porch bench.

Only thing is your bottle is going to look like crap now! You need an aluminum one to set it all off!

Only bottle I care about is the bottle of suds. Lol this thing is way over board. It's gonna get beat to he'll and I'm cool with that. I have the coolest welding cart outta all my buddies. Gonna call that a win.
 
thanks guys. still gotta take the wheels off and get em painted silver. that prob wont ever happen though.
