the cam package even with my discount was over $700 for the cam and lifters for the 351W in the 68 fairlane.
I think you got hosed on that one.the cam package even with my discount was over $700 for the cam and lifters for the 351W in the 68 fairlane.
Made in the USA reduced base circle roller cam, roller lifters and hold down spider. Also waited 4 months for it.I think you got hosed on that one.
I think I paid 109.00 for the cam AND lifters in 2016 when we did this project. Now they want a lot more for just the cam alone.
From your reaction here and everywhere else, It seems you have no buddy's slapping you on the back. From your reaction score it looks like you spend plenty of time there with your buddys slapping each other on the back...
Roller cams are a whole different animal $$$$$$$Made in the USA reduced base circle roller cam, roller lifters and hold down spider. Also waited 4 months for it.
So I looked to see where this thread/project was left off almost a year ago. So, what was mentioned in this ^^^ quote is now part of the car. It has PTC converter, Headers, 3.55's (still open). It's just waiting to get back to the track. I'm the hold-up at this point.I’ll add that the low-dollar 318 has never been given its opportunity to shine its full potential. This engine would have benefited greatly from a nice converter and a set of 3.55’s. Running high 14’s @ almost 95 mph with 2.76’s, stock converter, and no headers shows what potential there maybe in such a mild 318.
Hope to see it in the 13's?So I looked to see where this thread/project was left off almost a year ago. So, what was mentioned in this ^^^ quote is now part of the car. It has PTC converter, Headers, 3.55's (still open). It's just waiting to get back to the track. I'm the hold-up at this point.
I think if it hooks, it has a good chance. Let's say if it hooks I'm expecting 13's... even a 13.99 lolHope to see it in the 13's?
If I remember correctly, it was 3160 with the 7.25 rear end, no spare or driver and 1/4 tank of gas. It now has 8.75 rear end, bigger diameter drive shaft, and 15" steel wheels on the back instead of 14's. So I'm thinking we added close to 100 lbs.Do you happen to know what your car weighs?
The beginning ^^^ of my "participation" (if you will) of FABO, and the eventual start of my youtube channel. We see this question all the time ... "gotta a 318 2bbl in a Duster, Dart, etc.... wanna add some spunk and I have limited knowledge and less money".....
I'm going to do a 318 hop-up, not a rebuild. This can be done with the engine in the car.
Two things I ask from FABO friends that have knowledge:
1). thumbs up, fine! But NO opinions/suggestions on what you would do, not interested.
2). If you did it a different way, fine. Start your own thread, don't post it here! Many recipes makes a bad cake!
The Project:
My project is a '74 Duster, 904, 7 1/4 rear. The engine is a '76 318 2bbl I pulled from a Duster with 904 tranny. It has 120,*** miles on it, ran fine but smoked bad on start up due to bad valve seals. It is an untouched, greasy, gunky motor. Right now the '74 Duster has a slant. The installation is NOT the thread, just focusing on the hop-up that can be done in the car. I will post pictures, maybe a video, and the results from the dragway as time permits.
I should also add, every realistic but tough goal was met. We owned the car 9 years, felt a little weird to wake up and it not be a part of our fleet, but life changes quickly and the hobby has to change with it.The beginning ^^^ of my "participation" (if you will) of FABO, and the eventual start of my youtube channel.
