My Luck

Don't feel too bad. I bet everybody on this forum (probably even our distinguished @toolmanmike @RustyRatRod and @67Dart273) have a similar story.
I have yet to figure out the damn light/ lighting switch on my 04 GMC. It's al Arabic / Bohemian/ Russian icons that mean nothing to me. One is a depiction of (I guess) a lamp sort of tilting down. I thought it was the cargo light. No, it's the fog lights up front. And I drove around for awhile with the cargo light on. AND you cannot lock the headlights OFF. The switch is spring return to "auto" so EVERY time I fire it up, normally parked under the carport, it will turn on the headlights even on a bright sunny morning. So EVERY time I leave home, it's that much more wear and tear on the switch and the lamp filaments, because they gt cycled every single time.

So if they weren't "auto all the time", the manual function is not bad, But then you have three more buttons which I cannot see driving, have to duck my head down around the steering but even when I see them half the time I can't figure out which is supposed to be which, and the icons are not that definitive, specially in the dark.

Then there's the heat/ AC control which is impossible to operate without taking your eyes off the road.
Left and right knobs, unlabled, are left and right temp, and have no stops and no pointers. They are encoders, so they just free wheel. You must eyeball the display to see what the temp is. The button bottom right of the display cycles between low head, dash vents, defrost, or combo, and you must look at the display while pushing it multiple times to see WTF. None of these are "braille friendly" and are too easy to bump and push, so you cannot do this by "feel" while bumping down the street.

Very bottom left with the circle turns the whole thing off, and it doesn't always remember the previous settings so you have to start all over. Fan up down is left of the display and again you must multiple push it while eyeballing the display. "I guess" the depiction of "the car" is the recirculation, not NOT intuitive, and the snowflake turns on the compressor. The far right bottom is the rear window defroster, and I've yet to figure out the difference between the defrost symbol to it's left and the multiple choice function above it. I hate this ****. I would love to get the CEO of GM, the idiots who head DOT and "Nitsa" (NHTSA) and crack their frickin heads together.

A blonde boards a plane to New York, and when the flight attendant asks for her ticket, she says, “Sorry, miss, but your ticket is for economy, not first class. Could you please return to your seat?”

The blonde, looking confident, replies, “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, and I’m going to New York.”

The attendant, trying again, says, “That’s great, but you’ll still need to sit in economy.”

But the blonde just repeats, “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, and I’m going to New York.”

The conversation goes back and forth until the attendant, frustrated, goes to the captain to explain the situation.

The captain walks over to the blonde, whispers something in her ear, and immediately, the blonde gets up and walks to her seat in economy.

The attendant, curious, asks the captain how he managed to convince her.

The captain smiles and says, “I told her that this part of the plane wasn’t going to New York.”

Own an 02 silhouette I feel for ya pal.

The car or tire industry has most people believing that all season tires are good enough in the winter time. I use studded radial snow tires and I can get around a lot better than a lot of 4wd's. I believe that if everyone used these studded tires, there would be 90% less accidents, at least in the city.

But studded snows aren't legal in most states. Too hard on the roads.
Gotta settle for plain old non-studded snows.

Ice is where studs shine, they are a death sentence on just wet pavement.

Here in manisnowba almost nobody uses studded tires. Not worth the money a good set of snow tires will pull you through. Wife’s car has snow tires on it year round, better in rain softer better cornering, better stopping, wear quicker noisier but for performance I give her all the help I can.

Hmmm. Studded snow tires legal in every western state I've lived in... just not legal in late spring thru fall around here. ( Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada)

Studded tires are legal in more states than a person realizes. I think at one point they were illegal in more states but they backed up on their rulings, but they didn't advertise it. So most people think they are illegal. And it is a good idea to use them on all four corners. They are hard on the roads but the assholes around here don't fix the roads anyway, they just spend the money on woke lame bike lanes downtown.

I just looked it up, there are several states that studs are illegal. But most states they are legal seasonallly. It was always neat in our younger days-street racing on country highways at night with studs. Most of us had 4 speeds. Watching 2 cars dump their clutches with studs was a sight to remember!
