My New FABO Reality Show...Rani, I'ma Callin' You Out!!!

-
James, I love the "commercial" for "The Gauntlet", its really gonna brings em' in from the garage for the show!! And the prizes look great, I personally would like to have those Cuda hubcaps, but I gotta win em' like everybody else!!!

Oh, to hoist that trophy, it'd be a lifelong dream come true!!! Geof

Hey, ya never know, Its still not even at the midseason yet,...and I believe Miss Rani has a set of the Dodge Caps hangin on her wall, so ya might have a little "true" competition for those items.

update time......i got the new bezel paid for today....

big round of applause for Mr. 4404spd....he waited for me....i offered more money for the wait but he didnt require any extra and still went with his original price plus gave me a week.

im hot on the frame....finishing it up tonight, as far as stripping all the paint off. i plan to get it into primer tomorrow morning and into paint tomorrow afternoon.....looks like i am going to be delayed a week on the whole project due to some other things going on around the house.

but so far its just a delayed project not a "gone cold" project.

the more i move foward the more i cant wait to get some steering wheel time behind a rally dash.....i really love the look of this dash

however i did decide to not use the tach ....i never use tachs anyway ...and i dont want to add expense for tach wiring and all that jazz right now....i have a blank plate to go in its place for a nice clean all business look.......for me a bare foot on the clutch pedal and right hand on the shifter is enough tach for me ....Natasha talks to me and she tells me what RPM we are at and when to shift.:cheers::cheers:

:prayer::prayer::prayer::prayer:

painting the dash frame was delayed today ...i almost commited a blasphemous act .....i almost forgot to drill the hole for the reverse light that goes under the dash. :banghead:

so i need day light to go out to a storage unit and take measurments from my cousin's cuda which is a factory 4 speed car....so tomorrow it is

is there a bracket the holds the radio to the frame?? i am wondering if the radio hole on my frame was cut (if it was , dang clean job)

i dont see how the radio mounts to the frame ....i think im missing a bracket or something....anyone have pics of the radio in a 68/9 cuda dash frame?

if it is like the darts of that era-- there is a stud attached to the back of the radio--- then a bracket bolts to that & slips over the edge of the dash frame.

no radio in this picture but the bracket is attached to the frame in this picture ,
right under the dimmer switch!

i deliberately found a glve box trim with a broken emblem so i dont feel guilty about messing up a nice one ......i felt bad making Mr. fishy go away but he went to a new aquarium bcoz he is no longer needed here ....now for the first pour of filler and finish sanding it smooth

i had the idea to put some kind of GTS emblem in the place of the fish ...but really in a 70 + swinger it was blank there...no emblem of any kind

wow im hearing crickets in here .......did the producers not inform me of a program change?

even though im waiting for a new bezel in the mail i didnt want to just sit around waiting so i went ahead and moved foward on fixing the bezel i had.

since it had a cut radio hole i thought it would be a good candidate for some fun experimentation...

so i filled the radio hole with panel bond to make a radio delete option ......it still needs a little more "bodywork" as of this pic, but i have been sanding for the last few days LOL

i fixed the end piece towards the glove box that was broken off with a spare piece i had and blasted the whole thing in the sand blaster on low to get it stripped (like Mr. Steve lol)

on my way now to the paint store to get some more epoxy primer (Omni MP170) ...i am going to seal it with epoxy sealer before i apply any finish paints.....plus i need to seal in the bodywork and appy a surfacer over the bodywork portion so it comes out smooth as a baby's ....what

now that its coming along im actually considering going radio delete and using this bezel.....but i have options now.
i like this radio delete set-up better bcoz i always thought that factory radio delete plate looks too fat and awkward on the dash.....this way if it woirks the way i want ...it will look like nothing was ever there.

might be the clean Superstock motif i am looking for:cheers:

Looking good Rani, can't wait to see some more.

4spd.....Cosgig......?

Cosgig here, checkin' in!! Although no progress has been made to my dash in a couple days due to my work schedule, we here at "The Gauntlet"'s HQ have not been idle!! We have been working hard behind the scenes on our very first "video" upcoming special, in an attempt to bring to action to your living room. We just need to film the opening sequence and voiceover, then edit it all together. Believe me, it's chocked full of helpful tips and info, from some of the best in the business. Hopefully this weekend I can get it finished and aired!!! Stay tuned!! Geof

dont forget a close up of your tach....even though i am not using mine in the dart ...i still want to compare them ...i always thought mine was a 67 bcoz i pulled it from a 67 cuda but now i think its a 68+ ....not sure

oops pic is a bit blurry

You 2 are making me nervous!! Not much to post here, I am wrestling with stripping the bezel and re-spraying the chrome... Geof is right with the tach Rani, yours is 68 and up....a coinkadink we got a call today from the shop that redid mine and dads tachs and his 150 speedo....the bill is $600!!! I just about pooped!!

I think I just did too!!!LOL Geof

i know the wet primer looks strange in the pics ......but on the first coat of primer all evidence of the Mr. fishy on the glove box piece and any evidence of a radio is gone from the main bezel....the "bodywork" over the former radio opening actuallly came out straighter than i was expecting.....and even i cant tell anymore where the corner piece was broken off the main bezel anymore :cheers::burnout:

thanks, the cuda he is talking about was the same one i mentioned earlier that i got measurments from, for the four speed light. and i didnt tell him but i "borrowed" the four speed reverse light from that cuda also :eek:ops:

that cuda is a 340/ 4 speed car (A56 cuda)....been in his family since the mid-70s and its the car i learned to drive with......then i bracket raced it for a couple seasons.

sounds like more work now and another dash resto .....its been in a storage container partially disassembled for about 5 years
