My search for a shorty D100 is over

You stop that. Chris and Troy both already mentioned that.
Come on, that would be such a sweet sleeper. Some mini tubs, poverty caps and one of those evergreen tree air fresheners hangin from the rear view mirror!

Oh, and one of those wooden bead seat thingys.

Dont worry the 8 ball shift knob will be in the trash can soon
I have 3 things to say.
1. DON'T throw the 8-ball shifter away. That has Rob's (@RustyRatRod) name all over it.
2. I am all for keeping it stock, but it's your truck.
3. I think we should start a pot. $5 bucks to get in. Stock engine or a V8 swap. I'll hold the money and determine the winner.:lol::lol:

I have a 521 aluminum headed BBF I could drop in with a c6. That would piss off A LOT of people.
I would endorse that! With the distributor right up front, it'd be a cinch to tune!

Shortwides are that hard to find?
Damn, I've passed on five or six in the last couple years. I gotta start flipping trucks now.
Keep your eyes out for a decent mid to late 70's short bed around the area. I've decided that I'm going to drive a nice older truck around in retirement. Something not complicated by modern technology and can haul a sofa if needed.

Congrats to the original poster on his "new" truck.

i shall collect when i come to see chris and grab that brake stuff off him.

also, that seat is just screaming for some mexican blanket treatment! do it! do it!
My interior guy already got a call to redo a bench in blue plaid.

The only problem with number 3 is we already know who wins that bet.

Whatever you end up with in it, it's still gonna be a super cool truck cause it already is.

Spent a little more time today stripping paint from the sport mirror, gas cap, and front bumper. Then did a hill billy tape job on the grille to spray flat black where it should be to recreate the 72-73 floating tin grille that I love so much. It isn’t perfect and that’s what so good about it.

Hell yeah! Are the hood badges next? What paint stripper are you using?
Hood “D O D G E” badges, side D100 badges, “custom” on rear quarters, and tail light bezels are all that’s left to strip. And yea they’re all getting done. The stripper I’m using is just over the counter rustoleum brand aircraft stripper

Was my truck a few years ago. '76 D100, 318, with 727 trans.

That year like your's was the most simple electrical system. Everything about that truck was easy to work on prior to onboard computers running things.

Liked that one so much that I found an '89 D100, 318 that I have now.

This one took some doing to convert it back to a non computer system and 4 barrel carb. Got rid of the in the tank fuel pump too.

The 89 is the one Ive seen you work on recently. I like the 76. I bet you wish you had that back.

Here is a '78 Slant 6 setup that I bought brand new January '79. Was my get to work vehicle.

Had it for many years, then painted it, running boards and wheels, and a 4 speed. Sold it about 10 years later. That was a nice truck.

Yeah, hind site is 20/20. Just the sheer layout of it was perfect and simple.

318, 727, PS, PB, Aluminum Wheels, 4 barrel, Radio Delete, Nice clean body, nice interior and original dash.

It was originally a Slant 6, 3 speed manual trans, manual steering. Converted it to 318, automatic trans, and Power Steering made a whole new truck out of it.

Here is the White '76 V8, Automatic parts truck used for the conversion. Came with the nice aluminum wheels and brand new dual exhaust system, so that all helped. Got the power steering off that one too.

Don't EVEN get me started. No freaking way. Find an S10 to play with
Man, just do a search on marketplace for 1930s to 1950s trucks of all makes. Look at how many have been DEFILED by being put on an S10 chassis.......and these guys think they're makin an UPGRADE. Makes me sick to my stomach.
