Need help diagnosing a throttle cable & gas pedal problem on my '67 Barracuda

The gas pedal on my 'Cuda is floppy and I can't figure out how to fix this. When I disconnect the linkage at the carb end and push/pull on the cable, the pedal moves up and down... so I don't think the cable is broken. The gas pedal pushes in but then the cable doesn't have tension to push the pedal back out. Who can help with suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

I had to bend the pedal rod to take up slack on my Barracuda.
I couldnt get full throttle until I did that.

which throttle cable are you using ? it may be too long as well.

BTW. the pedal rod is hardened and a biotch to bend.

Thanks for the quick replies! As soon as I typed my post, I realized I should probably try adjusting the cable via that harness/saddle thing in between the carb and the fire wall. Sure enough, after loosening the bolt and pulling the cable toward the fire wall and then tightening again, I had my tension back on the pedal. Took an hour to diagnose and about 45 seconds to fix.

Wow. I just checked... I always thought there was a return spring on the pedal linkage Under the dash that returned the pedal to the away from the dash position.

It is all in the cable push / pull and the carb return spring.
