I put this demon carb. (1901) on my 273 commando and works great but i cannot get the linkage right. have fabed different brackets, still not right, can't get it to open up all the way. tired of make-shift. do they make a bracket i can just but to make it correct? 1965 valiant conv. 273 commando. thanks

Look for something like this that fit's a demon carb. I don't know if there is such a animal. That demon throttle plate looks pretty wonky. A stock 4 barrel bracket should work fine for the cable to attach to. Start a wanted thread for that. No one repops those as far as I know. Also, I am not a fan of those air cleaners. One backfire and you send melted plastic down your carb.

The cable isn't hooked up to the carb but you can see the bracket.

Another option is to go to an aftermarket throttle cable kit such as a Lokar. I love my Lokar, as I can change carbs and reset the length in just a couple of minutes. Since you are not going for 100% original appearance, I'd go that way in a heartbeat.

Get all that cobble crap off of the linkage. Get the adapter and mopar throttle stud like TMM said.
Like this (pic stolen from krazykuda):

I don't recognize what you've got for a cable bracket, but that needs to go, too.
This shows the travel of the carb linkage:

To achieve full throttle, the stud needs to rotate below horizontal, so the throttle cable bracket needs to be a bit LOWER than the throttle shaft in order to pull the linkage fully open. A bracket mounted as high as yours appears to be will never be able to pull the linkage "down" to get the last few degrees of throttle opening.
I see you're running an SP2P manifold, so I'm not sure the bracket TMM showed will fit, but it very well may. Otherwise, either mod a factory 2 bbl. bracket or get a 4 bbl. bracket.

You need to move the connection further in front of the carb throttle shaft center line.
Sort of around here.
Think about the angles..
Just get some wire and make a temporary connection to that spot with your cable and see what happens.

^^^ What he said, use the forward hole to connect the throttle cable. I use a knock off Lokar cable setup.. see below.

Be careful with any tips I give you, because, according to some here, I'm dumber than a box of rocks..
I've also adapted this part from a throttle body when space / cable location is an issue. It can make the throttle a lot lighter as well.

Unless you want dissolved foam sucked into your engine, and the risk of a fire, lose that air cleaner. They're horrible.

yes i am trying to find a replacement, i did not put that on. other than stock one any emendations?

yes i am looking for replacement, got any suggestions other than stock

Any good 14” open element air cleaner will work fine. The stock 273’s look neat, but I like the stock look. You can out flow stock air cleaners, I did on my stock 340 housing, but that is a more race than street, moderately serious effort motor. My AFR would take a dive at higher rpm’s. Tried a 14” open element and the issue went away. Had to modify my base to get more air in. On a 68 340, you really only have a small finger size gap around the bottom. Also I have run the bracket picture on my current eddy AVS and a mighty demon 825.

So, your car has a manual transmission? I don't see any kickdown linkage.......

so i went looked again and the original kickdown is still there, so if i just get the correct bracket i should be good?

You will need the coorect bracket and linkage (and adjustment) Unless your transmission has a manual valve body you need the proper kickdown linkage adjusted correctly or you can damage the transmission.

gotcha.. so can i use an aftermarket brakcet on carb and combo it with the orginal kickdow? sorry trying get this in my mind how it was before it was changed. going to search for a pic of a 4 barrel carb setup for this car

ok i founf the orginal kickdown bracket. no luck on throttle one. is this correct?

seems like i am missing the actual bracket that attaches onto the throttle cable then attaches to manifold or another bracket. can't seem to find a correct pic

I would just run one of the 13 or 14" diameter plain chrome ones with the paper element, like Mr Gasket or some such for the time being.....or for good. The important thing is to run one.

OP - Is that really a 4 barrel carb? The pics from the side show a base that doesn't seem large enough front to back... Never mind it's just the shadow of the weird throttle clamp arrangement.

is this correct?
NO!!! I think that the arm that you attached to the carb is actually the one that goes from the bracket to the bell crank at the transmission. The correct arm should have a long slot where it connects to the carb. These photos are from my 1970 Dart 318 with an Edelbrock Performer manifold and an Edelbrock AFB. I think you can see the rod that you have connected to the carb attached to the firewall end of the throttle bracket in the second photo. The throttle bracket shown is the 340/360 bracket and attaches under the last 2 intake bolts on the right in the pictures

These pictures should be a sticky to show people the correct way to have the kickdown rigged. It's dead right. Looks good!
