Those two would sue over the fence, because they couldn't see what he was doing. :D
Of course they would say it was because the fence was ugly or ruined the landscape.

My Aunt told me one day when I came in that the neighbors just carried in 7 bags of groceries when they usually only have 5.
I couldn't friggin believe it, and all I could say was "And you count them" :D

exactly my point
"do unto others" covers just about everything BUT God has also instituted a system of government which is able to deal with trespasses in a punitive way (an eye for an eye)
this allows for justice while preventing vigilante style "justice"
 
When we bought our first house the neighborhood was full of other families our age and we didn't know much about HOAs. We didn't find out until later that our HOA was also combined with the 55+ only "retirement" subdivision that bordered us. Turns out, a lot of 55+ year olds have nothing better to do than think about how much everyone else makes them miserable. They filled up the board of directors and spent their energies going out of their way to patrol our neighborhood for infractions like garage doors being left open and grass being too high. I guess it gave them something to do in their "golden years".

I told my wife if I ever get that miserable to take me out to a field and shoot me.

Not sure what religion you are talking about, but Jesus clarified Gods intent. He was not an "eye for an eye" type of God. More of a 10 Commandments God, summed up in the first 2. "Do unto others" is as close to it as most of us get.

not talking religion at all
but what i was trying to say is that God gave two different set of rules
one set of rules to be applied on a government level
the other set is to be used at a personal level

the eye for an eye was required for justice but it was not something that individuals should impose

Jesus did not address the government, He addressed individuals, and that is where the golden rule is spoken
to use that in government setting would be misinterpreting the scripture

there are many facets to both God and Jesus and it is important we get a full view of all of them

i'd love to develop this discussion further, but im afraid that would get this whole thread moved to N&P
 
It is really quite sad to me to see what this country is turning into. Nothing but a bunch of nosey sorry SOBs that have nothing else to do but worry about some one else. Who really cares if he gets money for working on the cars they don't bother 10 year olds who get paid for mowing some ones grass, really isn't any different to me. As far as the religion thing goes it really really aggravates me. I am a Christian, and proud to be one and do my best every day to be a good human being. Women like this or people in general really that have this self entitled personality and then throw my religion on top of it well... that is just too much and I wish god would chime in and show them how he actually feels. This man isn't hurting anyone and these two old hags need to get over it.

Jerks have always been around. The worst is when they try to use religion to justify their nastiness, I have not watched the videos, I can't take much nastiness. Especially when directed to a "Good Samaritan", in a wheelchair no less!!!

That makes me wonder. I'm thinking a smart ACLU lawyer type might want to work this case pro bono as an ADA infringement. Maybe the garage could be argued to be his "therapy".
Like a dog. But no poop involved.

I think where Christianity gets skewed is in the two paths of mentality.

Legal Mentality
Principles Mentality

Legal mentality is easy. You find what texts coincide with your current problem and apply a liberal dose of scripture interpretations and/or "legalese" to get the desired result.

Principles-based mentality requires one to grasp the the big picture and also hold themselves accountable to the principles outlined in the texts or purpose of laws.


After hearing these two Women's interpretation of law and justice I can assume they are the type to use scripture and written law as means to an end instead of a foundational principle to follow.
 
If yall wanna argue about God, Jesus and religious tomfoolery, how about creating another thread and lets keep this one on topic?

We no longer live in the society of nature, but a social society of humans. This is the future and the today.

I have found, that if you don't give a rats *** about what anyone thinks of you, you can live a pretty awesome life.

I'm not religious, but "do unto others" is a great mantra.
 
Opinions, emotions, and personal feelings are meaningless. Zoning laws are the rule. If the building and the operations are legal according to the zoning, there is no problem, if it is not, then he will have to meet those zoning laws. PERIOD.

Whether we find anything wrong determines nothing, and means even less. What matter is: Is it legal? Does it meet the zoning laws.

IF it doesn't meet local zoning laws, he also has the option to challenge those laws, IN COURT, and even fight to have them changed. The reality is, he stands a good chance of winning such a battle, since he is not operating a "for profit" business.
 
Doesnt the constitution grant life,liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Looks like its what makes him happy.
 
Life liberty and property were the unalienable rights listed in the declaration of independence, but that document isnt letigious policy. That should be clear considering all of the laws that preempt the natural rights.

Patriot act being the easiest example.

We are far from a natural law society now. This is a social policy society with a fun back story.
 
Holy crap....this turns my stomach. But he is not alone. While I was only working in my folks driveway I had received more than one "cease & desist" from the township. Oddly enough these only occurred when a house nearby was for sale. A friend, Jose, was in the same boat. Neither one of us was doing this as a living...only people we did work for,was friends and family. This ultimately was how I got away with it. Code enforcer stopped by on a Friday at 4:30pm. I had 14 cars parked on the road. He "suggested" that I don't leave them on the shoulder of the road. I was puzzled by this...was not uncommon for a neighbor, who was Captain of the Volunteer Fire Department, would,often have a party with all of the firefighters at his house. Would be 25+ cars. But I asked a few neighbors if I could park in their driveways.
Jose ended up in his Uncles barn. Property was zoned commercial. He then got hassled by various different departments...but this Uncle was an attorney who was semi-retired...
Where we live now this sort of thing would never happen. County is very lax in almost every aspect. Hell, there is 4 "Marijuana Farms" within a 7 minute drive...

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure it was inspected during and after construction. I heard the women whining about code enforcement siding with the guy. They're just mad that it was approved.

Good point. With the massive amount of newly retired and unnaturally prolonged lifespans I can imagine the number of "idle hands" will only make things worse. Probably hard to imagine for folks on here who spend their free time on a hobby but most Americans have very little occupiers outside of work and television (and being nosy neighbors).
 
These two live together as was said [companions ?] and they have way too much time on their hands!! I hope he wins and puts these two whiners in their place. I can't help but wonder what happened between them prior to this, normally there is an incident that sparks something in people to have such a vendetta against someone because he don't seem like a bad neighbor matter of fact he seems to want to help others.
