There is a bad moon on the rise.
If you leave a new car, say like mine a 2012, idling in the drive, will the computer eventually shut the engine off?
Not sure about cars, but I know diesel trucks have an hour meter. A place I used to work for has an '07 F350, the foreman would sit in it with the A/C on just idling and it shut down one day. It was taken to the dealer and we found out it shut down after "excessive" idling.

I have a diesel that will shut down quickly, unless you set the high idle at which stage it will run itself out of fuel in a couple of weeks. As far as I'm concerned I didn't even buy a car. I bought a camera in a bumper. Ever try to carry one of those around with you? A bunch of electric motors. Some portable electric heaters mounted in the seats. I got a couple of toasters in the outside rear view mirrors. There is a tv in the inside rear view mirror. A sat communication system. Two kinds of radios. I also have locks that do as they please, lights that do as they please. Many annoying things that beep and buzz and hum, and whatever. A million cubic feet of head room, but I can't even see half the plugs. Can you tell I'm thrilled. I have a ten thousand dollar car with $25,000 worth of crap bolted to it that no one in their right mind would actually buy.
I read that whole thing.......and I still can't figure out what kind of car you own. :dontknow:

Sorry to take so long in response. I haven't had internet access for over a week. I asked the question generically, thinking that most new cars would have the same basic functions. Car is a 2012 Traverse. No problems since. Johnson rod I guess.
