I would have that head checked for flatness! May need to resurface it.

Hmmm. Odd. Might want to do yourself a favor... With NO gasket in place, stick the head in pace and bolt it down... see if the bolts will tighten against the head. Dod you tap the bolt holes and blow them clean before assembling? How did the gasket fail?

The ring around the cylinder let loose and it was blowing under the intake.

So sounds like u popped a head gasket.

Check the flatness of the block and head, and make sure the bolts are not bottoming out in the holes. Tap and clean out the holes, use clean oil for the bolt threads. Torque in three steps in the right order.
